Matt Damon defends teachers against a libertarian d00chebag and her [expletive] cameraman!
http://youtu.be/WFHJkvEwyhk

from Gawker: Watch as Damon, a multi millionaire, coming across as in-touch with the needs of the working teacher. Observe with delight as not only is the reporter shamed, but so too is the cameraman! Behold Damon's glorious bald head and adorable mom! It's a fun video, is what I'm saying.

7. the irony. that "reporter" is a bimbo & the cameraman is her male counterpart.
both spouting canned talking points. from their position of assumed "competence" they attack teachers, not knowing stupid, incompetent, and bought-off they look.

i never thought much of damon as an actor, but he kept his cool admirably & defended well.

If more people like you and I would complain about its use,

we might be able to rid ourselves of it here on DU.

10. that explains their moronic talking points. you'd think the kochs could get people that
were a little smoother, though, not morons obviously reciting talking points.

they were clueless in that exchange, revealed for the morons they are. they think money is all that motivates people because it's obviously all that motivates them.

15. Perfect job by Damon of rejecting the false premise
And a lot of that as to do with having great teachers, including his mother, as he notes:

http://prorevnews.blogspot.com/2011/07/word-matt-damon-at-schools-rally.html

JULY 31, 2011

Word: Matt Damon at the schools rally
Matt Damon - I was raised by a teacher. My mother is a professor of early childhood education. And from the time I went to kindergarten through my senior year in high school, I went to public schools. I wouldn't trade that education and experience for anything.

I had incredible teachers. As I look at my life today, the things I value most about myself -- my imagination, my love of acting, my passion for writing, my love of learning, my curiosity -- all come from how I was parented and taught.

~~~
This has been a horrible decade for teachers. I can't imagine how demoralized you must feel. As I get older, I appreciate more and more the teachers that I had growing up. And I'm not alone. There are millions of people just like me.
So the next time you're feeling down, or exhausted, or unappreciated, or at the end of your rope; the next time you turn on the TV and see yourself called "overpaid;" the next time you encounter some simple-minded, punitive policy that's been driven into your life by some corporate reformer who has literally never taught anyone anything. ... Please know that there are millions of us behind you. You have an army of regular people standing right behind you, and our appreciation for what you do is so deeply felt. We love you, we thank you and we will always have your back.
Looks like reason.org (with reason.tv among its vehicles) is another of those Koch funded propaganda orgs we'll need to watch out for:
48. Saw this on Lawrence O'Donnell followed by O'Donnell's own impassioned praise of teachers and smack-
down of anti-educator rhetoric. Having left the profession due to medical issues exacerbated by the stress of the job and the type of attitudes the RW is pushing, it's really nice to hear that not everyone has a hateful, misinformed opinion of teachers.
52. Could Michelle Fields receive any more Koch funding.
She did that interview for reason.tv which is part of the Reason.org Koch funded propaganda arm:
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Reason_Foundation
The Reason Foundation is a self-described "libertarian" <1> think tank. The Reason Foundation's projects include NewEnvironmentalism.org and Privatization.org, as well as Reason Magazine<2> It is part of the Atlas Economic Research Foundation network.
The Reason Foundation is funded, in part, by what are known as the "Koch Family Foundations,"<3> and David Koch serves as a Reason trustee. <4>
She's a "Development Manager" for Students for Liberty (SFL), which is also Koch funded:
Michelle Fields Featured in the new TFAS Video
Posted on July 7, 2011 by Molly Fratianne
SFL’s very own Development Manager, Michelle Fields, is featured in a video produced by The Fund for American Studies. The number of Internet users worldwide has now surpassed two billion and so many of us have integrated the web into our lives so much that it’s hard to quantify how much it’s worth to us.
FSU’s Koch ‘Scandal’: Students Rally to Support Economics Programs
Posted on June 1, 2011 by Brandon Wasicsko
For full disclosure, Students For Liberty receives support from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.
And she's a Koch Associate Program (KAP) participant:
Interesting. The info is out there on Facebook links, etc, but the most descriptive paragraph is in a report from SFL that was scrubbed from this link. Here's the paragraph from the cache link:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:cDnfsRQJYw4J:www.scribd.com/doc/60278584/2010-2011-Students-For-Liberty-Annual-Report+cache:PrXy5iqydw0J:www.freediet.tv/students%2Bfor%2Bliberty/+%22koch+associate+program%22+%22michelle+fields%22&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari&source=www.google.com
Michelle Fields
Development Coordinator Michelle graduated Pepperdine in May 2010 with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy. While at Pepperdine, Michelle was the President of the Pepperdine College Libertarians and a Students For Liberty Campus Coordinator in the Los Angeles area. Michelle was awarded the 2010-2011 SFL Student of the Year award for her work as a Campus Coordinator. Michelle is currently participating in the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation Associate Program.
More about KAP here:
http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2011/02/leave-koch-brothers-aloooone.html
The Kochs have long paid for their news coverage. They do it by funding "philanthropies" like the Goldwater Institute, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute and the Competitive Enterprise Institute. These groups give fellowships and awards to "journalists" like Michael Barone, Tim Carney, George Will and Stephen Moore. They offer "Koch Associate Program," which pays rising young right-wing twerps close to $100,000 a year to write for pro-corporate publications like Reason Magazine, which the Kochs also fund.
They even got the loathsome Michelle Malkin started.
