WTF
These people seem utterly incapable of learning from past experience

One White House Official said Republicans would be unlikely to stack the committee with Tea Party members, "because they have the same incentives. The worse case scenario for Republicans, if you don't want tax increases, is to have it end up in a place where the committee fails. They do not want the committee to fail."

1. I remain optimistic. The Republicans of slightly lesser batshit insane persuasion are completely
repulsed at the reckless action of these freshman n00bs.

I hope.

12. But why would the GOP
select marginally sane members to do their negotiating, when the full-moon crazies are so successful at getting whatever they ask for?

2. OMFG
Did a White House official really say that? Source please, because if they did, everyone in the White House needs to either be on drugs or get off of them.

5. The official is absolutely right
We'll know in two weeks what the Committee looks like.

Let's test it.

17. The ruling class does live in a totally different world from the rest of us.
They have about as little contact with the world of the bottom 90% as Louis XVI and his lovely life had with the world of the starving masses.

13. There is one point of solace for us all and it is this:
The idiots who support the tea baggers will suffer
right beside us. They will see their support systems melt away,
their schools become rat infested warehouses, friends and relatives
unable to cover their medical needs, their elderly and disabled
family members unable to get assistance and so forth...

It is then we can look them square in the eye and say,
"We tried to warn you."

15. I'm pretty sure we said that 10 years ago.
We're not dealing with rational individuals who are primarily concerned with the country as a whole. These people are certifiably insane. They don't care WHAT they destroy. They've been told that it's either bad or it just happens to be in the way and is therefore "collateral" damage.

They fully believe that they must bring this country down to its knees so that they can either build it from the ground up the way "God" intended or they can live in their fortified bunker surrounded by their "apocalypse" rations and various armament until Jesus comes to take all the good folk away.

Because their minds have been broken.

16. GAWD. I don't have the exact quote, but I remember FLOTUS
asking, 'why are they trying to make them hate us.'

I remember during the health non-form debate the POTUS being more respectful to Marsha Blackburn than to members of the democratic party...

No, they don't learn.

20. Maybe it's a threat?
They have a strong incentive for it to fail if their only priority is avoiding tax increases. The committee may or may not recommend tax increases. If the committee fails, no tax increases. If they succeed, there might be tax increases.

So is this official saying that if the committee fails the White House will push tax increases?

21. Source is The Onion, right? Right?
:wow:

None of the so-called triggers, should the committee deadlock, include automatic tax hikes.

I don't think the word "tax" even appears in the bill approved by the House today.

So... if the committee "fails"... what puts tax increases on the table?

The steely-eyed, iron-jawed resolve of Congressional Democrats?

Several more utterances of the word "bipartisan" by Pres. Obama?

Sparkles the magic unicorn?

What?
