Newt, Mitt, Grover, Haley, were these guys just punching bags in their childhood and thought they could get back at their tormentors by becoming politicians? Lamar, Saxby, Orrin, Rand (are you really kidding me with these names) it's amazing anyone can talk to these bozos with a straight face.

6. It's a WASPy thing

I don't imagine many of them were picked on for their names at the fancy-schmancy prep schools they attended. They may have been picked on for being putzes, but most of their classmates probably had similar WASPy names. There appears to be a penchant for using a WASPy-sounding last name as a first name, which appears unique among ethnic groups. For example, can you imagine Jewish parents giving their child a first name of 'Cohen?'
