The American Christian Taliban strike at women again.
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 05:32 PM by TheBigotBasher
In an act of supreme bigotry the controversial Toledo Catholic Bishop Leonard Blair has banned parishes and parochial schools from raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, citing concerns that the global anti-cancer giant may some day possibly fund embryonic stem-cell research.

Bigot Bishop Blair, in his letter sent over the weekend to all priests and parishes in the 19-county Toledo diocese, stated that "at present the Komen Foundation does not fund" embryonic stem-cell research but "their policy does not exclude that possibility" and the foundation "may very well fund such research in the future."

At present there is no evidence that this catholic bishop is busy shagging his choir boys. The Catholic Church have done nothing to prevent him doing "such research in the future."

Of course this come from the State that has just passed vicious anti-women legislation effectively banning abortions after 20 weeks unless the mother will die.

Claiming to be pro life, the Reoublicant has slashed health and welfare services to the poor throughout the state, proving once again to a Republicant there are only two useful places for you if you are poor, the womb or the front-line. Anywhere else, your fault for being poor.

1. I bet they'd feel differently if prostate cancer was preventable
due to stem cell research. Jerks.

3. Speaking of striking at women,

get a load of this opinion piece written in the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman (Sarah Palin's hometown paper):

<snip>

While I understand that in Alaska the lone female is able to convict her alleged perpetrator, this goes contrary to the Bible. In the book of Deuteronomy we find the following: “One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.”

While this may be a problem for some in that this is Old Testament, this is carried over into the Christian era in Matthew 18: “But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one of two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”

The purpose for this is the preservation of justice. The truth is that people, including women, can lie. Thus, in not requiring two or three witnesses to the event, Alaska statute proves itself to be unjust, and likewise those legislators responsible for it.

<snip>

It's one thing for this guy to preach this garbage at his "church," but quite another when a newspaper chooses to print it. Unbelivable.

But, wait -- there's more:

The truth is that God has given to us physical needs we commonly refer to as a "sex drive," and he has designed for these to be met within the bounds of marriage. The trouble comes when one spouse or the other decides to exact retaliation against the other because of some offense and withholds him or herself from his or her mate. This is wickedness, and such is a violation of the spirit of marriage on the part of the withholder. Thus, if these allegations of spousal rape are due to the wife withholding herself in attempt to control or punish her husband, she is out of line with God. And it doesn’t matter how many laws are passed, it will just be another reason why God will not bless America.

4. Republicans didn't spend last year villifying "sharia law"
out of fear, it was out of jealousy.

5. I think you were posting as I was revising to put in the last paragraph.
Be sure to read that little bit of biblical "wisdom."

7. There is more discussion at this earlier thread. It looks to me like the ban
is limited to this charity, and not to cancer research charties in general
