Judge had to look at Google to find out what a Prairie dog was
??? Do Americans not know what Prairie dogs are? I have to say - first I've heard of keep them as pets

Davie man facing animal cruelty charge for killing prairie dog with a kick

A pet prairie dog is dead and its owner, who wanted the rodent-like animal gone, is now sitting in jail on Tuesday morning facing animal cruelty charges.

A pet prairie dog is dead and one of its owners, who wanted the rodent-like animal gone, is sitting in jail Tuesday facing animal cruelty charges.

Pedro Godales, 26 of Davie, was arrested Monday after he allegedly tossed a cage containing two pet prairie dogs against a wall and, later, fatally kicking one of them.

-------------------------

On Tuesday, Godales appeared before Broward County Judge John "Jay" Hurley, who said he had to look up on Google to find out what a prairie dog was. He described the pet "like a squirrel" and said the incident was not accident. Hurley set Godales' bond at $7,500.

1. Oh lord. The creep has a pregnant girlfriend & told her he wanted the 2 prairie dogs & a dog gone
before the baby came.

AND she said he regularly sprayed Lysol at the critters to "punish" them.

This woman is an idiot for staying with this guy. He'll be kicking her baby soon.

2. That woman is an idiot and should have the kid taken away immediately after birth
I would probably be having that baby in prison if my SO did something as despicable as that. I'm an atheist, but I'm Old Testament where animal cruelty is concerned.

Shithead.

4. Never seen one, but I've always assumed they were a type of ground squirrel.
I can see why a judge would need to look it up to confirm it though.

5. good for the judge -- humble enough to be thorough
are there domestic prairie dogs? I've never heard of people keeping them. Tigers, yes, pythons, yes. Prairie dogs -- no.

10. what a dumb ass judge
He needs to come look in some of my fields. BTW anyone wanting one come
on over. Their free.

I do remember all of us around here laughing when we heard someone was selling them for pets. I also read a year ago.about people getting sick from something they supposedly caught from them.
they are very cute but if to many can be very destructive.

He's never been west of the Mississippi or watched cartoons, apparently.

An acquaintance told me about Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and apparently he held up a few fresh vegetables (and tomatoes lol) to the children and they were like.....???????????
