The Gulf Dead Zone, the size of Delaware and getting bigger.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110718141618.htm

ScienceDaily (July 18, 2011) — Researchers from Texas A&M University have returned from a trip to examine the scope and size of this year's "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico and have measured it currently to be about 3,300 square miles, or roughly the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined, but some researchers anticipate it becoming much larger.

1. DE and RI are small.
Let's wait until it gets to be the size of Florida. Then we'll do something.

2. Mutant Nuclear Turds flow into the Dead Zone
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 06:24 AM by SpiralHawk
as the Nebraska nuclear plants remain surrounded by flood waters, the Omaha sewage system remains flooded and failed, pumping six million gallons of raw sewage a day into the river, and inundated ag fields float off their genetically mutant crops, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides -- all mushed together in the Missouri as it flow to the Mississippi as it flows to the Dead Zone (formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico).

4. This year it will be larger
because of all the floods. The river carries a sizable BOD load to the Gulf every year. This year the load will be far higher than unusual because of the size of the flood.
