WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin, the darling of the conservative Tea Party, has raised $1.6 million in campaign donations even though she has not yet said she will run for president and has already spent a huge chunk of the funds, documents showed.

The Federal Election Commission report released Thursday showed the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had taken in $1.6 million in contributions in the first half of 2011.

But she had also spent $1.5 million, leaving her an estimated $1.4 million remaining in the coffers of her "SarahPAC" committee.

The fundraising is dwarfed by President Barack Obama's $86 million haul and Republican front-runner Mitt Romney's $18.25 million over the same period.

4. Beats working
I can understand the wealthy people sending Grifterella money; it's a reasonable hedge bet that for a few thousand dollars you can get a seat at the table that could be worth several millions. And for the type of wealth I'm talking about, a few thousand dollars is chump change.

But ordinary working stiffs sending her money? I have less than no idea why some Sammy Lunchpail or Johnny Punchclock would do such a thing. Unless they're congenital idiots.

certainly be investigated as fraud.

9. I'm not disputing you, but could you give me an example of a
legal scam? I guess I have always thought it was illegal to lie to some dumbass just to take his money. I'm sure you're right but I'd still like an example. I'm sure I'll go "well, sure". lol

You set up a charity....

Your charity will provide food for starving children in elbonia.

You raise $1,000,000

$500,000 goes to the solicitation firm that actually did the marketing, phones calls, mailings,
raising and collecting the money.

$300,000 goes to your salary.

$60,000 goes to your secretary.

$30,000 goes to your office, rent, supplies, utilities.

$60,000 goes to the law firm that makes sure you filed all the proper papers
and that all the financial numbers make the charity legal in the state it operates.

$50,000 is used to buy and send food to elbonia.

13. Well, sure. LOL I guess this is the category the lovely Sarah
would fall under since she keeps "hinting" that she might run. Nothing says she eventually has to run. She's still a fraud in my book, but probably perfectly legal.

14. PACs are the political version of the charity....
Here are some past stories:

There are $ thousands for legal expenses to make sure everything she is doing complies with the law.

BTW, did you know Bristol was a political consultant?

15. Wow. Sounds like the whole damn family should be in jail. I'm
a little surprised at Bristol (although I shouldn't be) cause I thought she was a tad above her mother - guess not. Thanks for the articles; they were interesting and eyeopening.

16. Bristol seems to love the high flying celebrity life....
Willow seems to just enjoy driving her truck.

If you saw Sarah Palin's Alaska (which I'm sure you didn't) in one of the episodes they go to a store
and Sarah instructs Piper (the 9 year old) how to behave inside to which Piper replies "Bribe Me!"...

17. I was curious to learn how the fleeced freepers felt...
So, I waded on over. It appears that they are too ignorant to realize they're being scammed:

"I have $1000 with her name on it!"

"last year, I set aside $5600 with the idea of donating to a Palin presidential campaign. All she has to do is announce or endorse and the first $2300 will be on the way."

"They ain’t seen nothing yet. Wait until she announces — the figures will be astronomical!"

"...As a Palin supporter, it's good to know that her campaign chest is nice and full with lots more waiting if and when she announces her candidacy. I can hardly wait!"

The good news is that every dollar that goes into Palin's pocket is a dollar less another Repub candidate will be getting.

19. What to know how Freepers feel? Drive a stake into their heads. If luck is
with you maybe you're hit their tiny brains and get a glimmer of human reaction. Have a few sturdy stakes handy, Freepers have thick, hardened skulls.
