How Kasich's union busting could tip the 2012 election

The Cincinnati Enquirer did a recent story on how the fight over SB 5 could impact the presidential election in Ohio

Here in Ohio, there is polling that suggests We Are Ohio, the coalition of labor and liberal groups pushing for repeal of Senate Bill 5, have the numbers on their side.

A Quinnipiac University poll conducted in May had 54 percent of the registered voters polled saying they favor repeal of the law, while 36 percent said they want to keep it in place.

“It’s the kind of issue that can galvanize the Democratic base,” said Jason Johnson, political science professor at Hiram College. “It’s this year’s version of the gay marriage amendment.”

4. More from the article
Johnson was referring to 2004, a presidential election year, when Ohio voters went to the polls in large numbers and passed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. At the same time, they gave President Bush a narrow win in Ohio – 118,601 more votes than Democrat John Kerry, out of about 4.6 million cast.

8. Tea Party has their own ballot initative
"Tea party leaders from around Ohio are expected to file somewhere around 535,000 signatures with the Ohio Secretary of State. If they have 385,245 valid signatures, they would place a constitutional amendment on the November ballot that would allow Ohio to opt out of the mandatory coverage provisions of the health care reform law pushed by President Obama and passed by congressional Democrats last year."

5. Not to worry.
Kasich has taken significant voter suppression measures.

6. he can just take a page from Georgia
Make sure the machines in liberal leaning precincts "malfunction" or are far too few so the wait time to vote is hours long.

Park the cops all over the place near the polling stations.

Brag about "advance voting" and then make the open hours and requirements so restrictive it does actually help the hourly workers who need it most get an opportunity to vote.

7. Most likely 'all of the above'.
They know exactly which precincts will lean left and they will proceed accordingly. They are well practiced in the art of stealing elections.
