6. I have no problem with political sacrifices...
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 05:21 PM by Ozymanithrax
But if he means seniors and the poor must sacrifice more, I have a problem with that.

If he means Democrats must sign off on cuts to Medicare and Social Security, it will be the elderly and the ill who sacrifice.

It is beginning to sound like Greece, where austerity means take money from the people to avoid default to the banks.

16. uhh..it IS Greece. And it IS about avoiding bank defaults.
And THAT should have been the only discussion worth having.

All that money the banks took during TARP, they need to give back.
And all the Debt they ran up with their Ponzi schemes, they need to take a loss on and be nationalized.

Any discussion besides that is just bullshit disguised as a distraction.

7. After 30 years of a failed economic philosophy, we're asking the grifters to throw us a bone
It's bullshit. And it will be bullshit until they are rejected on ideological terms. Show some leadership, sir.

Its all their fault that the banks gambled trillions, lost, and needed to be kept in business.

Its also their fault that the wealthy want ever lower taxes.

Someone has to pay for it, why not force the elderly to pay for all their mistakes?

:sarcasm:

11. I wonder if those Democrats and Republicans will
be willing to sacrifice their Cadillac health plans for Medicare? I wonder how many cuts they might be willing to make on Medicare then?

12. Medicare and SS (the most successful programs in America) should not even be on the table...
No programs have saved so many people. I truly question who Obama is working for? He makes a few noises... but he always caves to the right.

I hope Obama does the right thing and decides not to run. Open up the Democratic Primary to a range of candidates. Throw the field open.

Spare us the doom and embarrassment of a Jimmy Carter Administration.

It's time for Obama to un-block the process and step aside.

Not to forget that Obama has gotten us involved in 6 wars at this moment.. 6... count 'um.

We need to increasing taxes on the very rich and gather money from the oil companies. Bring back the troops, stop wars.

Instead the GOP wants the ordinary people to suffer by cutting local services including the old, disabled and the children. They want Obama to do they dirty work.

17. He extended the Bush Tax Cuts.
He didn't have to do anything at all and they would've just disappeared. But he chose to pull our pants down and put us in a "compromising" position instead.

Anything Obama has to say about the deficit is con-job bullshit until those Bush Tax Cuts are gone.

And then they can talk about safeguards for citizens being gutted. Let those bastards cut their own benefits first! They never will, yet they say everything is on the table, except what makes sense, ending two wars & streamlining and cancelling benefits top down! Our democracy is a joke.

19. You want to make a political sacrifice? Go after the rich and the war machine.
It would be a political sacrifice with a genuine potential for alleviating our debt.
