comical ... because the shooter read "Communist Manifesto", he's a "flaming liberal"
(at least, when it comes to the spin meisters).

But when there was a shooter who had nothing but books by conservatives (Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, etc.) ... it wasn't an "indication" of his political leanings ...

3. I've read THE TURNER DIARIES...
Does that mean I'm going to blow up a Federal building in Oklahoma?

FWIW, I read the book as part of overall research into hate groups in America.

4. They can't talk their way out of this one, there have been too many and they were
all from the right. Now a congresswoman has been shot and a Federal Judge, no way, DC is now looking at this different and more serious than before.

9. Yeah, and ignore the Ayn Rand book "We the Living"
as if socialism and Ayn Rand's libertarianism were somehow in harmony. As if we are exactly what we read. . .

11. I'd like to point out then that I must be:
  • A Fascist because I read Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler.
  • A Paleo-conservative because I read The Closing of the American Mind by Allan Bloom.
  • A Communist because I read The Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engel.
  • A Classical Liberal because I studied Rousseau, Hobbes and Locke extensively.
  • A Theocon because I studied Edmund Burke, Robert George and Mary Ann Glendon.
  • A Libertarian because I wrote an essay on the role of "self" in the political philosophy of Robert Nozick.
  • An Objectivist because I wrote a book report on Anthem by Ayn Rand.
  • An Anarchist because I quote Joe Hill, Emma Goldman and Emiliano Zapata.

(Actually, that was all for classes. I have a degree in political theory.)

13. if the investigation of a shooter turns up his room in his mommy's basement is
full of books from RWers and posters of Rush Limbaugh, "it's inconclusive". In fact, like you said, it becomes "Know your enemy."

If he had one book from Michael Moore or Al Franken, the media goes into "He was influenced by Liberal writings ..."
