Never been on a jury. Never even received a postcard requesting my presence.

A boomer, I've lived in five communities, three large urban areas. Never one time have I received a hint of a request for jury duty. I vote in each and every election. Would serve on a jury if asked. My elderly neighbor? Called up every 18 months - 2 years. Shouldn't juries have some representation from across age groups, ethnic background, kind of education background, employment, etc.?

Jurisdictions vary in method how they accumulate jury rolls. Enquire about yours.

No police record, vote every election and yet never have I been asked to be on a jury. Some of my acquaintances have been on several juries. Maybe since I was a pot smoker for years even though I no longer toke, I don't know.

7. How? My family gets called all the time.

One of my sisters got called so much we put a "get out of jury duty free" card on her birthday cake when she turned 21. That was before she got called for federal grand jury service.

8. Count your blessings. I was called for the 1st time when I was in my

fifties. A long.boring,uncomfortable day.

I was called twice since then----same thing. I never made it to a trial.

I'm now age exempt.

10. You're lucky. I get called about every year and a half.

I served on a jury once and it was a horrible experience, I ended up hanging the jury. Every since then they call me but reject me because they don't want people with strong opinions and a strong will on a jury. Once they find you were on a hung jury they don't seat you on another. Last couple of times I don't even bother filling out that preliminary form they send, I throw it in the the trash.

11. I'm in my 5th decade

of being called consistently every few years. In all those years, although picked for juries several times, I only made it to a courtroom trial once which was actually a rather interesting experience. I served again this past Winter and, frankly, I've had enough. Time for younger folks and fellow boomers (like you) who have missed their day(s) in the Jury Sun.
