Sometimes this place infuriates me, but I'll tell you, this is where I find out the news first. There are a lot of very resourceful diggers here and they know how to find info fast. I don't think there's a better place on the net to get info when something like this happens, to be honest.

I don't find it offensive at all. I'm not referring to women or to solely women griping. I'm using it in a generally accepted colloquial sense. Of all the injustices and abuses in the world today, and especially what happened today, to take the time to call this out seems silly and trivial.

Before I got fired from my job, I was quite sure the axe was gonna fall. I used to walk around work thinking "dead man walking, dead man walking". I did have an opportunity to take a much lower paying job though, and I turned it down. I was not certain enough about my expectation to take a $3 an hour pay cut. But it did turn out I was right.

Got attacked by some asshole who decided that this attempt on Giffords life was a good excuse to attack the "far left" for "wanting to turn the other cheek" and went elsewhere. and then saw a bunch of threads with very little info (I wasn't checking LBN though, just my normal hang-out of GD) and I first saw this http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=439&topic_id=138958&mesg_id=138958 Then I saw the name and contradictory reports - she's dead, she's alive and I could not tell which one was more current. So I googled it and found a thread on HuffPo that said she was alive.

Maybe I should have checked LBN, but that, too, could have had threads of various ages without showing which one was more current.

Normally I do not care about breaking news, preferring to read about it after the dust settles and all the speculation and rumours have gone away.
