what if Obama said: officially change the tax code so the top rates revert back
to Clinton-era levels, after that legislation is passed-he will step down as President of the United States. This instead of allowing the defalting of the US?

what would they do-is their hate for Obama greater than their insistence on Poppy Bush 'no new taxes'? It would be interesting to see what the TeaParty & GOP would do in such a showdown, kinda Old West style.

1. That is
a very interesting idea... It's like those lines from Presidential debates where a candidate says "If you can show exactly how you'd do that, I'll drop out of the race right now". Clinton did that with H.W., and I think Jed Bartlett did it as well ;)

What would they do? They'd say he's lying, and offering a gimmick instead of an idea, then go on with their business. Obama would look like a fool, and face accusations in 2012 from the GOP nominee that when the going got tough, Obama offered to quit.

3. Why would you even suggest Obama step down?

You honestly want that to be on the table from now on? I think that is stupid.

You do realize that the debt limit has been coming up quite often lately right?

4. don't know how to bluff well do you? He aalso said he'd be willing to be a 1 term
President. I doubt the GOP could spider spin it that way, it shows he is willing to risk all for his country. I think it would divide the Right, too.

5. Why would he need to bluff?
Rates go back to Clinton levels in 2013 if he wants them to. He does have the veto after all so he could do so for any plan that isn't to his liking.
