Sarah Palin... You told your "followers" to RELOAD
Edited on Sat Jan-08-11 04:38 PM by walldude
then you put up a map with names, places and CROSSHAIRS, over the people you wanted out of office. Then you laughed and joked about it. Not so fucking funny now is it you psycho bitch. You and Todd can take your sympathy and shove it up your ass. How fucking dare you even fucking show yourself after this.

If it turns out to be a Tea Bagger who did this(and I'm sure it will) then I want fucking INVESTIGATIONS and fucking CHARGES brought up. Depraved Indifference Homicide. You tell someone to reload, then make a list of your "enemies", complete with locations and CROSSHAIRS, then you are inciting someone to commit murder. It's a crime in this country.

No more fucking word games, no more jokes, no more snide remarks. NO FUCKING MORE.

Edit, looking like it was a bagger. I want Palin arrested.

22. I made a list
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/hfojvt/99

I suggested that those people were 'vulnerable'. I would also have suggested that we 'target' their district.

It's metaphorical language. When you get knocked down in 2006 and 2008, you want to fire up your base - to win the next election. You want to RE-energize them, and if you know that they are gun enthusiasts, collectors and hunters, then you speak to them, you connect to them in language that they can understand. If they were baseball players, you'd tell them to pick up their bats and take another swing, but that does not mean you really want somebody to take a baseball bat to a Congresswoman's head.

If, God forbid, somebody takes a shot at Palin in the next week, is DU gonna feel responsible because of the hate we have thrown at her today, or for the thread last week laughing at the idea of her death?

23. So you are saying that it was all rhetorical?
Reload? Target? Crosshairs? It was all a big joke HAHA, just a play on words.. a language they can understand.. HAHA. Yeah tell that to the dead kid. Here's a language maybe you can understand, it's called THE LAW

Depraved Indifference Homicide:

To constitute depraved indifference, the defendant's conduct must be 'so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime. Depraved indifference focuses on the risk created by the defendant’s conduct, not the injuries actually resulting.

In one case, People v Register, 60 NY2d 273, 469 NYS2d 599 (1983),while exploring the meaning of "depraved indifference recklessness" the Court of Appeals ruled that intoxication is not a defense or excuse to "depraved mind murder," although it may be to intentional murder. Its analysis started with distinguishing reckless manslaughter from the "depraved indifference recklessness" necessary for murder:

"to bring defendant’s conduct within the murder statute, the People were required to establish also that defendant’s act was imminently dangerous and presented a very high risk of death to others and that it was committed under circumstances which evidenced a wanton indifference to human life or a depravity of mind. . . . . The crime differs from intentional murder in that it results not from a specific, conscious intent to cause death, but from an indifference to or disregard of the risks attending defendant’s conduct."

Palin's conduct incited a person to shoot someone. PERIOD. You can spin it like a fucking freeper all you want. Sure she'll get away with it but it doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and claim it was "metaphorical". It was fucking metaphorical right up till someone got shot then it became a crime.

24. the law is usually the hardest language to understand
for example

"imminently dangerous and"

would sort of imply that the shot would need to be, say, within an hour of somebody seeing that map. So a map that was put up last March, does not really qualify, does it? http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2011/1/8/934345/-Flashback:-Giffords-on-being-on-Palins-crosshairs-target-list

I might also note that the map says "let's take back the 20" and "join us today". The 20 are clearly "taken back" in an election, and the reader is urged to join a PAC, not to buy a high-powered rifle with a scope.

The idea that this language "presented a very high risk of death" seems very far-fetched to me. It seems like very few people "took arms against a sea of troubles".

That's the twisted genius of it - a clear dog whistle to the Jared Laughners (sp?) of this world, but with just enough deniability built in to potentially get her of the hook if a lawsuit is brought against her. Of course, unless we know for sure that Laughner was a teabagger, it's a moot point. As of writing this, I've not read anything that says that he was.

96. You may target their district, but telling them to "lock and load" is a TOTALLY different matter.
Targeting someone's district is a goal to achieve, but telling someone to target a district, and "lock and load" on it, has a TOTALLY different meaning.
Sorry to say, but words that have several meanings can be construed to mean other than what one desires. When using such words, the author should take into account the lowest common denominator, and use other words, should a meaning affect harm on someone.

that the Palins and some close associates have been putting down roots in Arizona very recently.

Some of Sarah Palin's closest inner circle has recently gone to work in Arizona for a Rep. Gosar, I believe.

There is no way around it.

She should be bright enough to know that some people would cross the line with this type rhetoric. Yet she recklessly advocated for her cause, spewing violent, bloodthirsty language and references and inciting violent "solutions" to current affairs.

She should be locked up and tried as a terrorist, i agree.

Henry Plantagenet...that unpleasant business involving four barons, an aggravating archbishop and an intemperate remark by the king of England? History has never forgiven Henry for that, and I sure as hell will never forgive Palin. I voted for Gabby and respect her hugely. She and Raul are the best examples of representatives from our state. 39. My preference: wrongful death lawsuits against her for each and every one who died.
Civil lawsuits against her for damages for those who didn't die but were injured. She can easily be added as a defendant in the lawsuits the victims and their heirs will bring against Jared Fuckwad. She will be bankrupted and made an object of hatred for the remainder of her days.

And if she is criminally indicted for incitement to commit murder, particularly against a federal judge, well that's icing on the cake though I don't have great hope that our RW leaning DOJ will do it.

and feared it would come to this. The targets and "reload" business were so blatant. They were like a call to extremists or people needing a push. This reminds me of Dr. Tiller's killing - Randall Terry didn't pull the trigger but his rhetoric and influence surely influenced Dr. Tiller's murderer.

61. You Need to Read About Ethics and Civil Discourse in Democratic Governments
Obviously, you missed the point about leaders setting proper examples for their followers. Governmental leaders are not musicians, poets, or writers of fiction. Leaders have to stand for something, as this nation once stood for freedom, liberty, and equality. Reducing discourse to the lowest common denominator cheapens the nation and erodes any Virtue remaining in American public service.

45. Remember this date and these events my brothers and sisters...
for in the days ahead, when time dulls the senses and confounds the memories of this outrage, the Republicans in the House have EVERY intention of holding what amount to show trials vis a vis Congressional investigations and mocking the consequential and real by dragging us through the mud of the inane and fabricated.

Today, tragically a 9-year old child lies among the dead, lives cut short and dreams shattered for all who have been touched and a nation's soul torn a little more and a little deeper. The need for investigations and reflection into THESE matters are what should galvanize us and draw us together as a nation. ANYONE who fails to recognize this needs to exit the public square and spend a lot of time in contemplative solitude, safely sequestered from the rest of us who must find a way to explain this to our own children, grand-children and relatives.

Remember... when the gavels drop and the cameras roll that when our representatives choose expediency and craven interests over the opportunity to truly serve and actually do the work to make this a more perfect union. Remember the actions (or inactions) in the coming weeks, but remember them well when it comes time to vote again.

Free speech is one thing, but when it starts to endanger lives it becomes something else... it's how freedom of speech gets warped into a tool to attack others physically. 103. I'm not liberal. I'm about as moderate as you can get .
I am an American veteran. Guns in this country are a way of life. These people are threatening OUR democracy. The point is that by putting their faces on a target, someone is telling them that they are fair game for a nutjob to take aim at them.
palin, the teabaggin' kkkluckers and the conservanazi republiklans have been threatening and intimidating the opposition, hoping that you will cower in fear and let them TAKE CONTROL of OUR government. Someone has to let them know that - 1. They are not the majority and 2. They aren't the only people who own guns and know how to use them.

The conservanazis like to play the patriotism card. Like, their ideology is the ONLY TRUE path an American can believe in.
Always be prepared for the imminent danger these idiots pose. For if you aren't vigilant, your life will change drastically. I have no problem with discussion and compromise but what has been going on with the conservanazis is far from that.

Like I've said, their message is to intimidate, threaten and provoke fear into our lives. If you don't say "enough", and we can counter that, then we are all doomed.

I'm sure the conservanazis will be on hate radio and Fux News trying to portray this killer as a card carrying liberal Democrat. His head is probably full of the conservanazi hate messages.

Well it's too fucking late when a sociopath took it literally now isn't it. Make them responsible for their provocation of the fringe elements in our society when it's applicable. the bigger problem presented here is that intelligent people we need to run for public office will be
deterred from doing so from this incident. With the Tea Party able to show up at events with guns

civil and honest people to run, now we'll be forced to vote for those who are so insane already that we'll have
a government as corrupt as Afghanistan. Then we're in real trouble for they will do anything to destroy
this country. They've already given it away to foreigners for profit, why not turn us into a third world nation

See yesterday I was for arrest. But that's not looking good. So today I'm for a civil suit. By tomorrow the wonderful people "in the center" will have me convinced that there is nothing really wrong with it it's just in bad taste. By the next day I'll be blaming Assange and the far left.
