Obama and the Dems should use it.

5. We need to become the leaders and demand it!
We already know they aren't likely to do it on their own. :eyes:

6. Agreed! Time for the leadership to step up and take on the bullies.
That is what we hired them for. We did not elect them to constantly cave. Call the freakin' bluff and govern.

3. Hard to do...
when virtually every Democratic Senator now proposing this has voted in support of Debt Limit bills for years.

4. That was then. This is now.

Generally people should be nice. It does not usually work with bullies. It sure has not worked for the Dems and Obama. Now it is time to try something different.

8. It's arguably an unconstitutional law.
Edited on Wed Jun-29-11 10:05 AM by Melissa G
Use that argument.

If Congress wants spending to be different, they have the power to spend differently. It is unreasonable for them to put the Executive branch in this position. Congress is who already spent this debt money they want the Executive branch to now rein in.

9. then they need to argue in front of the SC
if it's declared unconstitutional they don't need to ignore it because it is no longer a law. I sure hope the Democrats cannot (and wouldn't think of) deciding by themselves that a law is unconstitutional and ignoring it.

10. There are people interpreting laws in the White House to the disadvantage of
Dems and America everyday. Remember torture being Illegal? They are arguably in Libya right now illegally(and there are people arguing that as we type). The White house is interpreting laws to our detriment, they can at least interpret them for a good cause at least once.

11. Does that 2x4 mean that the banks will have to pay more interest as the credit rating goes down? If
so I'm for it.
