7. For a truly unique gift, may I suggest handmade American crafts?
Put a stained glass mirror on that difficult wall. Cast iron candlesticks from Brubaker. Cased glass paperweights from so many brilliant artists risking silicosis in the USA. Pottery bowls, signed by an American alive and working to support his/her family.

For a gift that will be treasured, try something that isn't Made in China.

Me and my gf aren't quite ready. But if/when we are, we will definitely go this route. She's an artist and we like to support them. :)
