White House warns on Libya funding measures
WASHINGTON — The White House warned on Monday that attempts in Congress to choke funding for all or part of US operations in Libya would send a "bad message" at a time when Moamer Kadhafi's days were "numbered."

President Barack Obama again finds itself on the defensive over the US role in the NATO mission this week, following a showdown with lawmakers last week over whether he usurped his power in ordering US action.

Congressional sources said that the House of Representatives could vote on measures which could curtail funding for US support operations over Libya, or a narrower bill squeezing some operations.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said such votes would not be helpful and could lessen the political pressure being brought to bear on Kadhafi's regime.

2. I thought removing Qaddafi wasn't the objective
Or has it now become our objective. And what if he doesn't leave, even with all the non-war pressure we can bring to bear?

It's just silly for the administration not to go through the motions of the War Powers Act. Congress will rubber stamp anything the White House wants to do, militarily speaking. It's not like another war is something important, after all.

3. it's not "just silly", it's simply inexcusable.

As in, there is no rational justification for this kind of crap; it's as if this admin is trying to out-Bush them all.

4. You're living in a pre-5/11/11 mindset
After 5/11/11 the objective had to be changed
Don't ask why or the dictators and terrorists win
Just trust that this is being done in the best interest of the country.
Which country?
Don't ask or the terrorists and dictators win.

7. Funding? What Funding? Are we involved in that "fictitious military organization" called NATO?

George F. Will, Published: June 17

America’s intervention in Libya’s civil war, the most protracted and least surreptitious assassination attempt in history, was supposed to last “days, not weeks,” but is in its fourth month and has revealed NATO to be an increasingly fictitious military organization.

9. The difference here(I think) is that Bush
used the War Powers Act to justify it so that way the Left couldn't really do anything about it, but since Obama seems to be refusing to do that there is a chance the war could be unfunded based on that premise. Though I completely agree we should have defunded Iraq as soon as we learned what a lie it was and impeached Bush for his crimes.
