Jewish court sentences dog to death by stoning

– Fri Jun 17, 2:00 pm ET

JERUSALEM (AFP) – A Jerusalem rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a dog it suspects is the reincarnation of a secular lawyer who insulted the court's judges 20 years ago, Ynet website reported Friday.

According to Ynet, the large dog made its way into the Monetary Affairs Court in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem, frightening judges and plaintiffs.

Despite attempts to drive the dog out of the court, the hound refused to leave the premises.

One of the sitting judges then recalled a curse the court had passed down upon a secular lawyer who had insulted the judges two decades previously.

1. What is it with fundamentalist religion and torture?
Edited on Sat Jun-18-11 09:37 AM by LAGC
You'd think an all-loving God would have made his creations so they couldn't inflict massive pain and suffering on each other.

Yet its often the folks who worship God the most who think they have the right to inflict suffering and terror on other living creatures...

3. They think they have the right b/c they think they are doing God's will
yes, indeed. With God on your side, all sorts of horrible things are possible, nay, probable!

4. There's not much of that "all-loving God" in the Old T./Hebrew Bible.

5. The most offensive part - they wanted children to kill the dog
"Clearly still offended, one of the judges sentenced the animal to death by stoning by local children."

If they are going to be insane and cruel, they could at least perform the deed themselves instead of abdicating their insanity and cruelty to children.

6. Family fun for (almost) everyone!

PS- has the reincarnated dog escaped, I hope? Will there be a most-wanted poster featuring the dog? Round up the usual canines.

The insanity is unreal. What was the group that airbrushed H. Clinton and some other woman out of the picture of OBL's assassination and the response to the real-time raid?

10. And, yet, we'll still stand by Israel staunchly...
..while condemning the Arab world for having the exact same beliefs.

12. Yeah, this is the same thing as beheading a woman for walking out her door...
Without a chaperone. Exactly the same.

with which I am somewhat familiar, but just deleted it because there's no fucking point in explaining it all here.

19. This is not the Israeli courts ...
... it's a "court" made up of fundamentalist rabbis. The secular courts would not approve.

If you're going to hold nations responsible for what their fringe religious groups advocate, the USA has rather a lot to answer for.

21. gimme a break. in texas they'd just shoot the dog without giving it a second thought.
and i say this as someone who lived in texas for 7 years.

once while driving across the state, i came across an abandoned litter of puppies someone left in a cardboard box near a supermarket with a note saying "help us".

i took it from place to place looking for someone who would take it in. most people ignored me, and the 10% or so of the people who said something *ALL* either asked why don't i just take 'em out back and shoot 'em or offered to do that "for" me.

(and no, this was not the lubbock/amarillo area, this was somewhere between austin and houston).

does it really matter that they couch their inhumane desire to kill a dog in insane religious banter?
the rationalization for inhumane treatment is irrelevant.

If they hadn't corrupted this poor dog with their heathen ways none of this would ever have happened.

Just thought I'd get that out of the way..

No way they could act like a bunch of ranting fundamental loonies...is there?
