OK.. I'm going "big board" with this request re: Current TV & Keith
Long Island's biggest cable company, Cablevision, does NOT get Current TV. Every other local cable company does (i.e. Dish, Fios, Time Warner and Direct TV)

If Cablevision gets enough noise, perhaps I will once again be able to see Countdown without having to hunt for it online.

Remember that Keith was the VERY FIRST big platform to call out the B*sh administration (and the rest of CorpoMedia©) on the crap that was going on.

1. turn that shit off....
Reclaim your life. The squawking box is an utter waste of electrons.

2. Reclaim your humility, mike_c. Let people do what the hell they want to do.
You're being a little arrogant, no?

You don't want to know what Olbermann thinks? Then don't watch.

But telling others not to watch is classic arrogance.

6. well, if advising people to make better choices is "arrogant" then...
...I suppose it's equally arrogant to advise them to get vaccinations against disease, or to go to school. But by all means waste your time sitting passively in front of a teevee if that's what floats your boat. Hell, most other Americans do it so it must be the most wonderfulest thing evah, right? Oh wait....

11. Advising People???? You wrote "Turn that shit off" "Reclaim your life"
Total arrogance.

Your equivalence to educating people about choices like vaccinations and schools is a pathetic straw men argument, IMO.

16. you are assuming that you know the 'better choices'. My father had
two strokes and the teevee helped him regain the ability to focus and talk. It saved the quality of his life. I personally know how to use a remote and choose what I do. You should see my book collection and I walk 4-7 miles every day. I love teevee. So what? And I hope people help the OP get current on his system. I would help you, honey, but I live in Alaska. GOod luck. Also, how will I find Keith online? I don't get Current either. :(

17. listening to TV addicts defend their love of television is like listening to smokers...

...defending their tobacco addiction. Sure, they always find positive aspects of the experience, without acknowledging that both addictions create the very needs that they satisfy, while leaving users worse off overall.

My challenge to ANYONE who thinks that television enriches their life-- cut the cable for six months or a year, then ask yourself whether you want it back. Nearly everyone I know who has done that is ADAMENT, as I am, that their lives are better without the squawking box. I cut the cable nearly 20 years ago and watch TV once or twice a year, usually in hotel rooms. It's appalling. REALLY, REALLY appalling.

representative group found it fine to leave it alone? Fine. I don't begrudge that. I find your ADAMANT and REALLY, REALLY appalling remarks reminicent of too many others who think they know the best, you have to follow what they do because they have the revealed truth. They have R's after their names.

Free country, free choice, free will. Don't like TV? DOn't watch it. I applaud your resolve. I wouldn't do it because I am a choosy tv patron and I like the shows I watch. Also, living at the end of the road in a state so rural that some people still live stone age lifestyles (alaska) I need it to feel connected to the rest of the world. People who live in rural Alaska could survive really well on Mars because it feels distance wise that we already are. I don't need someone REALLY, REALLY telling me to turn it off.

And after all of this, you still watch it. Two or so times a year? Back slider. If you are going to preach your religion thus, live up to it and cut it off altogether. Else you are just another loud opinion that doesn't have any credibility.

IMHO of course. :)

4. I sorta agree with Mike C. I do miss keith and having countdown in my daily routine OTOH...
if it's going to be more "You suck, we rule" rhetoric and more airing clips of limpballs and palin then I may not be watching too often. I've found life is more pleasant when there isn't a constant barrage of sound bytes from people that hate me and want me to die.

We'll see.
I hope the new network will spell a meaningful change in content. If so KO is a force to be reckoned with.

7. I kinda got tired of all the shouting, too.
So I got one of those DVR things and I just fast-forward thru O'Donnell and Maddow. I try to hit the high spots and skip the rest.

That way, I don't drink so much and I can concentrate on my music.

10. Imho, KO became more loudly strident out of frustration
Arguing with M$NBC on a daily basis had to be personally wearing on him. Not surprised he lost it on occasion, and I'll wager lesser mortals would have cracked long before he did. Since he has greater control over the content of his new show as well as a personal stake in making Current prime time a great news line-up, I think KO will thrive in his new environment.

Best wishes, Keith!

13. You're probably right.
I have no idea what it must be like to work in a hostile environment. Heck, I don't even know what a work environment would be like, considering I've never really been in one.

I used to watch his show and wonder how in the world someone could do that, day after day. But I do look forward to his new show and am interested to see what his new format might be. I heard him interviewed by Terry Gross the other day and it sounded pretty intriguing.

and other good stuff. Plugged it into my 12 year old TV and it's perfect since I only have basic cable.
