Maybe Anthony Weiner IS a superhero.
Evidently he is the only person in Washington, including the Dept. of Justice, who can do anything to
stop the pure evil that is Clarence Thomas.

Other Dem congresspeople are cowering in fear. The AG is in hiding. Who will save us from Clarence Thomas?

1. The deification of a grandstanding media whore with no record of legislative achievement...
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 10:50 AM by ClarkUSA
... is truly a triumph of style over substance; although in retrospect, Weiner's bill pushing to raise the visa quota for foreign models makes sense now.

2. I'm more trying to understand why, if Thomas is clearly a criminal
why no one else in Washington will go after him.

5. It's very simple. The only way Thomas can be removed is through
impeachment in the House and conviction in the Senate. With the House of Representatives having a strong Republican majority, such a thing cannot happen, obviously.

Sometimes, reality is something that needs to be considered. Since Thomas will not be impeached, there are other issues to work on. Getting Thomas off the court is a wild goose chase. It will not occur.

15. That is dead wrong. INDICT him, and CONVICT him for his violations
of federal law, and THEN see if the repukes want to stonewall on impeaching him.

What makes you think a SC justice is above the law?

18. I think you are right.
Another way to do it is to start a public outcry that includes law school professors and lawyers asking him to recuse himself and to step down. That would be quite appropriate. He needs to be embarrassed into resigning.

If people can ask Weiner to resign over sex-texting they can ask Thomas to do the right thing and resign over what is the appearance (and probably reality) of bribery.

Taking bribes is certainly high crimes and misdemeanors. And what Thomas has done has the appearance of taking bribes. Especially since he lied by omission to cover up the income.

7. No, it's the truth. What is Weiner's record of legislative success during his 7 terms in Congress?

Besides making pretty speeches in front of the cameras that were the Democratic equivalent of Paul Ryan's red meat to his teabagger base?

16. Other than being one of the most reliable progressive votes in the entire
House?

Think about it - if he really sucked as much as you say he does, HOW did he get 7 terms in Congress?

13. Other than your grandstanding media whore part,
that was what some of us said when we voted for Senator Obama," his record of legislative achievement was not outstanding either. "triumph of style over substance" fits a lot of politicians.

6. Clarence Thomas can only be removed if he is impeached
by the House of Representatives and convicted by the Senate. What do you suppose the odds are of that happening? The Attorney General can do nothing about Clarence Thomas.

Reality sucks sometimes, but it is reality, nevertheless.

20. That's flat out wrong. You might want to look into it before you post it again.
DoJ can investigate Thomas on all kinds of problems. They can ask Roberts to look into everything from conflict of interest to tax fraud. There are a number of actions that can be taken before this goes to the House.

We are stuck with him. I am really finding these posts about Weiner to be very eye opening.
