Teen Was Not Targeted By Weiner Or Family Would Have Pressed Charges (NYDailyNews)
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 09:12 PM by KittyWampus
Thanks to DU'er HipChick for the link:

"She was not targeted in any way and did not receive any inappropriate messages or photos or anything from the congressman," a source close to the Delaware girl told the Daily News. "If she had, her family would have filed charges."

Some conservative bloggers have zeroed-in on an excited tweet the girl posted on April 13 in which she declared, "Seriously talking to Representative Weiner from New York right now! Like is my life real?"

Two days later, she complained that Weiner was no longer following her on Twitter.

"The blogs have taken a few tweets from a 17-year-old kid and put their own twist on messages that were just kid stuff," the source said. "Her family has gone through all her accounts and not found any inappropriate messages."

10. I was talking about the quick damnation from several posters here
They are a little too quick in believing the lies by proven liars.

27. I don't see the two as mutually exclusive. Look at the policies most of the Weiner haters support.
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 10:18 AM by Edweird
I don't find it a coincidence at all that they tend to be anti left and are clamoring or Weiner's departure. In fact, I am beginning to wonder if there may be a little involvement by the current administration as well. DLC=GOP

12. What happened to the Friday News Dump where nothing gets seen or heard?
I see there are opposing points of view on the effect of Friday news items. Up till now, they were used to hide things, now they're used to amplify them? Sorry, not buying it. No one's looking at news tonight.

9. I owe some people some apologies
when Schultz did his "slut" mea culpa, there was quite a few people around here complaining about progressives eating their own. And I argued with them.

After watching the insanity over Weiner around here the last few days, and especially the rush to judgement over the teenager (where a Fox reporter just happened to be hanging around when the police got called), I have to admit they were right. We do eat our own. Deep fried, on a stick, with cheese. Especially if it's a straight married guy and involves sex.

Color me disgusted.

15. You're welcome. Another tidbit...
In the past few days, the girl and her family have become subjects of intense interest in the news media. On Friday afternoon, the local police arrived at their home and asked the girl and her mother to bring the girl’s phone and computer to the police station so they could be checked to make sure no crime had occurred.

The family member said the family complied, and did not expect any further action to be taken.

I must admit, I have a knot in my stomach over this one. I hope to goodness there wasn't anything improper.

19. Thank you.
This all reminds me of how so many people were willing to believe the worst about the ACORN workers. Sadly by the time the truth came out, for ACORN and many of those whose lives were destroyed in the rush to judgement, it was too late.

I appreciate always your willingness to wait before jumping to conclusions mz molly.

On a side note. It is possible that the police were looking into the complaint by the mothers of teenagers who were following Weiner, that Breitbart's thugs had harassed them so badly that they had to delete their accounts. And one of them, in an interview last week admitted that he 'might have some legal problems' because of what he had done in order to 'get' Weiner. This was Patriot76 who has a record of trouble with the law and was worried about Weiner or others reporting him.

I don't know why the police were there, but to assume that it was because of Weiner, to be willing to believe the worst of him, knowing who he was dealing with, truly surprised me to be honest.

21. Everyone sends direct messages on twitter.
And everyone receives them. Her family is not worried, and have said so.

However, Breitbart's thugs harassed the girls following Weiner on twitter so badly that their families complained about it.

Let's hope the police find those tweets. That man is scum and it's sickening to see anyone here helping him to destroy yet another democrat.

20. Doesn't matter anymore. Just the accusation itself is enough for some people.
It's the way it is. All you have to do is make the accusation, get it in the media. Doesn't matter if it's true or not, the damage is done, you've put the target on defense.

Apparently, even for some DUers, just the accusation is enough, doesn't matter if it's true or not, they've already thrown him under the bus and have no desire to help him back up.

25. How this would play if Weiner were a Republican:
"Looks like KKKarl Rove got to the parents!"

"Of course they say nothing wrong was tweeted. The GOP probably has the family at gunpoint."

"The kid likes RepubliKKKans. Of course she'd cover for her favorite one."

"Guess the family has a new beachfront condo next to Ken Lay's place now!"

and so on.

I hope full computer forensics are done on the family PCs.
