Top 10 Things Texas Gov. Rick Perry Doesn’t Want You To Know About Him
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/06/10/241830/top-10-thing-texas-gov-rick-perry/

With widespread discontent on the right over their current presidential field, all eyes are trained on a likely new entrant: Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R).

Perry, who has been elected governor three times and served for more than 10 years, enjoys bona fides from social conservatives and Tea Party-types alike. Glenn Beck even described Perry as a man he was so enamored with that he wanted to “French kiss.”

However, as conservatives fawn over their newest presidential hopeful, it’s worth taking a closer examination at his record as governor. On issues across the board, from Perry’s support for dropping out of Social Security and Medicaid to his state’s abysmal pollution levels and his proposal that Texas secede from the United States, the Republican governor has amassed a record of far-right extremism.

ThinkProgress has assembled the top ten hits from Perry’s tenure as governor:

3. Repugs will reject any candidate that appears sane
in favor of the looniest of the loons. Their eventual frontrunner will be unelectable.

4. Molly Ivins would be rolling over in her grave...
to think of "Mr. Goodhair" actually being taken seriously as a Presidential candidate. Molly, I feel your pain, but it is the Rethugs after all...

Gawd. there seems no limit to the nincompoops they will put forward.

7. I don't think so. Molly would be all over it and enjoying herself immensely.
And probably say that that as a Texan she is relieved because this proves that stupidity isn't confined to Texas.

9. Well, I agree she would relish the "writing" material...
and her sense of humor never waived in life, but I likewise think she was horrified at what an impression these cretins created and how they represented her beloved Texas.

5. He is so much worse than bushie
And the money men love him for that. They are salivating at his stupidity and malleability in their hands.

I hope American voters won't get fooled again by another stupid Texas governor!

8. Me too Sonia
They were joking about it here and I find the prospect terrifying.

I honestly didn't know ONE person who liked him...republican or Democrat...yet he won by a comfortable margin.

14. Lax media
They never do their job. The only thing that would bring his chances down early if he's tweeted some x-rated picture of himself.

Issues they don't care about issues - they only care about scandals.

And voters give them that power too. Despite the fact that slick Rick spent 10 years driving the truck stuck in a ditch in Texas further in the hole - he's Mr. Likable to the media. The same stupid media that let bushie skate on any serious questions. He's the new version of "guy you want to have a beer with". :puke:

6. That he's widely believed to be gay?
No problem, they're good at covering up the past for Texas Republicans!

11. There are far more than ten things.
But the biggest is on the list -- the traitor called for succession from the U.S.

What if, in 1860, the U.S. had elected Jefferson Davis as its president?
