In front of witnesses, at work. Now, I'm curious whether or not he's gonna be wanting state assistance to pay his bills since he was stupid enough to do something like this and get fired. My bet is, now that HE needs help, he will be all for collecting the money he paid into the system, the so called 'entitlement welfare' that he bitched about every day.

34. I had the same policy when I was a bartender.
If there was a fight or even the strong possibility of one I didn't care who was right or wrong. Both parties got kicked out because it does take two for a fight. I seldom had problems because my customers knew better. There were fellas who did get into fights elsewhere who sat like quiet, polite little rabbits on my bar shift because they knew they would never get served by me again. I had the full weight of the management and the law on my side too. It's a very effective policy.

45. So getting punched is fighting?
Sorry, I can't agree with your outlook. People should be able to express themselves without fear of violent retribution. Also politics should be kept out of the workplace (same with religion and other personal subjects). The repuke in this story failed on all counts, led off with an insult, got one in return, and then he started swinging. Don't open the door if you're not willing to deal with what comes out of it.

53. Don't care. A lot of people didn't agree but what I saw
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 12:27 PM by Cleita
was that the guy who got punched usually started the fight verbally. If you disagree with some blowhard, it's much easier to change your seat or move away from that person than saying something where two people are under the influence of alcohol and you might get punched. The same goes for pool games where there is a disagreement. Just walk away and report the incident to the bartender or manager who will take care of the offender quietly and you can go on and finish your beer peacefully and not be kicked out. Remember restaurants and saloons are private property and you are welcome on the premises as long as you behave. As far as the work place, political arguments should be conducted off premises on the worker's own time.

72. I'm sorry you CANNOT start a physical fight...
verbally. That's a contridiction that's inherent in the sentence. If it's verbal the worst that it can be is an argument. SOMEBODY has to escalate it to physicality. THAT is the person who started the fight.

75. So if some guy randomly walks up to me in the street and punches me in the face
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 11:04 AM by Sirveri
then according to you I started fighting them? That's insane. If I'm just standing around minding my own business doing whatever it is I do, and some guy doesn't like the way I look, is crazy, or whatever; and they just walk up and start punching me, you're saying I somehow bear responsibility.

Does this mean women who gets raped "were asking for it" because of what they were wearing (or being female)? After all, it takes two in that case too.
It takes two to crash cars, does this mean I consent to be rear ended every time I get in my car?
It takes two to make a baby, does this mean abortion should be illegal since all women have consented every time they have sex?
If some teabagging nutjob walks up to Pres Obama and punches him in the face, I guess Obama started that fight, so we should kick him out of your establishment.

21. He most likley will not be able to collect
Reasons You Will Not Get Benefits (see #6)

IllustrationIf your boss can prove you did something wrong on purpose, you will not be able to collect benefits. You may hear the words “wilful misconduct.” This means you knew you did something that harmed the company or other employees. For example, you will not get benefits if you were fired for:

Wilful misconduct
Committing a serious crime (a felony)
Stealing
Lying (for example on your time card or job application)
Failing a drug or alcohol test that is required by law
Fighting at work
Sleeping on the job
Drinking or using drugs at work

it is CT but I would think it is pretty much the same from state to state.

Pretty sure that, as you say, the rules are pretty much the same from state to state.

Benefits are generally for people who lose their job through no real fault of their own, which is clearly NOT the case here.
