Weiner reality check.
No one cares what you or I think - BUT we should all care what the electorate as a whole thinks. What's the goal here people? Defend everything at any cost, everytime, without question?

OR, electing reasonable candidates who will govern as an adult? The goal is a Democrat in the seat, not a sinecure for Weiner.

Now let's use a completely unbiased and neutral group to sample opinions on Weiner. Democratic Underground.

Fact is, this is possibly the friendliest group on Earth for Weiner (a politician much despised by even his Democrat colleagues in congress) - and he has lost major support here with his negatives just at DU rising by the hour with each new dribble. (Odds are also heavily stacked against him making it to his first! wedding anniversary - no doubt another wave of negatives to come when his powerful and well respected wife makes the expected decision)

Weiner's through. Long Live the Democrat candidate for New York's 9th congressional district!

1. His electorate is Queens and parts of Long Island, I believe.
If they don't care, then neither do I.

Look at these numbers below. Do you think his electorate didn't just get whipsawed on this as well?

I think Weiner's a liability - if he stays around I'll bet Dollars against Donuts he finds his district eliminated with the new map redraw New York just began. And for which his seat was already known to be at risk.

All Parties Express Increased Belief that Anthony Weiner was not Responsible for Sending Photo after Viewing CBS Interview

Flemington, NJ, June 6, 2011 – A new national study among 1,113 self-reported
Democrats, Republicans and Independents revealed that all parties increased their belief
that U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner was not responsible for sending an
inappropriate photo after watching his interview on CBS.

The study was conducted during June 3-6 by HCD Research to obtain Americans’
perceptions of a video in which U.S Representative Anthony Weiner addressed the
subject of the recent Twitter scandal involving alleged photos of him.

After viewing the video, all parties increased their belief that Anthony Weiner was not
responsible for sending photos via his Twitter account, increasing from 24% to 40%
among Democrats, 13% to 25% among Republicans, and 19% to 32% among
Independents.

3. Honestly, Democrats need to toughen up.
Republicans deal with stuff like this about every other month. You don't see them weeping and wailing and calling for some politician's head. Ever wonder why sex scandals don't seem to hurt them? They ignore them and the pain goes away.

4. I'd love to see a list of currently serving politicians that have withstood a sex scandal.

Election reality trumps all else.

Weiner gained Zero support with this. No donors to his side, no special interest groups, no fellow politicians, certainly no leadership. Not his wife. Not his staff, not a single constituent.

It's all uphill from here - except of course he still has quite a few very hard hits to take. The rumored X-Rated photographs, were they in his government office? The upcoming ethics report started by Pelosi but in fact to be run and written by republicans and released on their schedule, under political cover of Pelosi. His upcoming separation....

So in fact, it's downhill from here deeper into the abyss.

5. Not a big fan of Weiner, but shouldn't that read "Democrat-ic" candidate?
You made that mistake twice. I only say that because that's a term Republicans use to denigrate.

6. Yes it should...
I remembered doing that once before and getting hammered - but it was on the free standing use of the word "Democratic" I thought, so I went out of my way to use the stilted term "Democrat".

On further checking I was hammered for saying "Democrat led state", a term the NYT's, my daily paper for thirty years uses.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:W6khtLHJaUAJ:www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php%3Faz%3Dview_all%26address%3D439x973789+nyt+%22democrat+led+state%22&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com

So being sensitive to my previous hammering, in which I was actually correct - I forced myself to use a stilted term - in which I was incorrect.

Next time, as in the first, I will simply write things correctly, unlike this time.
