If he'd been waiting to get on an airplane the TSA would have been passing around all sorts of pictures of the congressman's show weenie.

1. The fuss is/was about
the lie more than the act.

9. Everybody lies, a little or a lot,
this lie led to an FBI investigation, accusations against people who had no involvement, debate about the security of Twitter and the image hosting site, and supporters clamoring to try to help him prove his lie who later have to 'eat crow'.

13. How long did the lies about Whitewater keep the FBI tied up?
$50,000,000.00 that investigation cost the taxpayers and it tied up about 50 FBI investigators for thousands of man hours, that might have been better used instead to bust the crew that was setting up the 9/11 strike on the USA, instead of political witch hunting.

"Nancy calls for an investigation"...she should have done that when the NeoCONs were lying to start a war or lying about torture and spying on you and me?

Ironic since all they found was that the Clintons had lost $25,000 on a land deal in Arkansas fifteen years earlier.

And what about Tom Coburn...did he resign yet? Tommy covered John Ensign's lying ass buy lying and helping John Ensign hide the truth for a long time. When will Tom Coburn resign?

42. Oh..
It sounds like he would begin talking to female respondents on his Facebook page or would respond to someone else's Facebook page, then it would progress from there to texting. My issue isn't about the act as much as the completely predictable outcome of doing this as a US Congressman or any high profile person..the potential for scandal is so blatantly obvious it would require mental illness to not predict or complete disregard for self preservation, IMHO.

Jon Stewart and others talking about how big his thing was. I'm not saying it looked small. Just that I couldn't make much sense of the photo one way or the other. It seemed like a low-information photograph to me. But I haven't upgraded to HDTV yet...

11. Well at least his lies didn't start a war in Iraq that killed thousands
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 05:58 AM by Hubert Flottz
and wounded thousands more. His lies didn't cause the taxpayers a trillion dollars like Bush, Cheney, Rice and Powell's lies about WMD in Iraq did. His lies didn't cause people to stay near a Nuke Plant that was/is melting down, when TEPCO knew the danger involved.

The Congressman lied to a bunch of other liars. At least he didn't shit his diaper.

The relevance of the comparison to the deaths of thousands suggests that logic is wasted on you.

Lying is not mass murder or any other horrific crime - nor did anyone on DU suggest that it is.

Lying is, however, a reason for Weiner to resign.

How little press coverage the lies that BushCo told for 8 years received in the MSM, compared to Weenie-Gate.

Will over four thousand American kids die in some shit-hole because of the congressman's lie? No! But you'd never guess that Weenie-Gate wasn't the biggest story since the year 33AD, by watching the MSM coverage of this BULLSHIT!

FIRE HIM! STONE HIM! He's not my congressman. Mine's Shellie Capito a lying republican.

I can forgive a little white lie, to save your family grief, or even to cover your ass, but gross stupidity is not a very good quality in a leader. I can't defend this guy for being stupid anymore than I can David Vitter.

26. I think they went digging and found what they needed to flatten
the guy politically. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes to light that Rupert's crew really did the digging the way they were doing it in England. Still I wish the folks/"leaders" in Washington would take the term "honorable" placed before their names a little more to heart, when the wrong head threatens to overpower the right one.

Nobody made Weiner send the photos, and especially, no one made Weiner lie repeatedly about it.

I think the photos are next-to-nothing (except as a source of jokes), but the lies will be the end of his political career.

40. It's the deliberate, extensive lying to the media that bothers me. The repeated interviews
with various members of the media and the repeated lies ("I did not send that tweet," "My account was hacked," etc.). It was the extensive lying over time. If he'd flubbed initially and then apologized, or just apologized from the outset rather than attempting a whole inane cover-up starting with the "My twitter account was hacked!" announcement, then it wouldn't be so distasteful. But it dragged on and on, with Weiner calling reporters in for interviews in which he spun a web of deceit. He went out of his way to lie in fact.
