John Prine says "your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore". Same goes for a little yellow ribbon.

Here's another other favorite anti-war song....

6. That was pretty much me, 40 years ago.
But I didn't die, completely.

5. I ask them outright.
If I am on my motorcycle, I will tap on their window and ask them, "So, what are you doing for the troops, today?".

The most common response is either something along the lines of "Go fuck yourself" or "What are you talking about?".

When I catch someone coming out of their stickered vehicle, I like to show them some scars and ask them what they were doing for me forty years ago.

8. Good for you! ...
... supporting the Troops means not sending them to be mangled and killed in immoral, unjustified wars.

I've been known to call out an asshole or two myself, but thankfully have no battle scars to use for emphasis.

Thanks for your service.

10. Then there are the others...
"I voted for George Bush." Waay to easy.

"I pray for them." Ditto

I actually had a guy say that he supports the troops with his bumperstickers and decals. For one of the rare times in my life, I was utterly speechless. I truly felt homicidal.

9.  I served , USMC, 40yrs ago, twice went to RVN and only got in the way 3 times.
My son is currently serving, first tour in Afghan. I pray that he doesn't "get in the way" and returns safely to his family. And ours.

He receives a "care" package each week from us, two a week from his family, and 2-3 a month from his surviving grandparent. He is lucky. There are several members of his unit that receive NOTHING from their families.

We, our family, have adopted them. Now they receive at least one or two from their "new" family.

Yes we "support our troops" They are us.

13. Welcome home, brother. I rate two enemy marksmanship medals myself ...
and I pray that my sons somehow missed the gene which has led every male member of my family dating back to the 18th century to pick up arms in defense of this nation.

12. Fire support, that's the only support we wanted in the A Shau and it's all they want today, so ...
lose the bumper stickers, the flag decals, and put down your signs. Then pick up a weapon, or shut the fuck up.
Damn, I despise chickenhawk Republicans!

14.  Has anyone else noticed the difference in civilian attitude
toward the military between now and 30-40 years ago?
