What happened is between him and his wife.

Did he lie? When caught with proof of indiscretion, most people probably would...the fact that the media goes after such personal, private matters is what bothers me.

Did he play us for fools? Maybe...but honestly, don't you think we will be able to get over it?

3. I'd vote for him too is I were in his district. What he did is much less than the AH pubbies
who are STILL in office. I wish we'd go back to the days of JFK, when personal indiscressions were considered by the media as exactly that...PERSONAL!

4. I still like him and what he's done
but he should have come last week. Lying about being hacked was not a good move.

5. I'm in his district
and stand by him. It's a private matter and I don't care. Getting all bent out of shape over stuff like this is a GOP thing.

7. Me too.
I am so not getting the folks who think he should don sackcloth and ashes. And that feel "hurt". God, step away from the computer folks. Take a walk.

8. Yeah, I understand. I mean - Democrat versus republi-CON? On all the other issues
it'd be him by a landslide.

But what bothers me most beyond all this is - SURELY someone like Anthony Weiner should be a little more savvy about HOW YOU PUT YOURSELVES AT RISK if you do risky reckless things. In private? Hell. Doesn't matter. If you're a prominent figure - of EITHER political stripe - you put yourself at risk simply by sticking your neck out in public, making statements, giving speeches that are forceful and articulate, saying things that other people wish they could but don't have the position OR the nerve at their disposal. SURELY he should be aware of what a target he's become simply by standing out from the crowd in speeches on the floor of the House, on camera as a talking head. OF COURSE the opposition would like to see him taken down. He can't have been unaware that there are all kinds of people who would love to see that happen and would think nothing of trying to help that outcome as reality. I can't believe ANYBODY in this day and age, in the political climate, wouldn't take all that seriously!!!

Shit, I manage my kid's band. And even I know enough to warn them about stuff like this, and they have nowhere near the public profile that Anthony Weiner has. We have a buzz phrase around here: "TMZ.com." That's all I have to say by now, to remind them that ANYBODY has a camera. ANYBODY has an agenda. ANYBODY could be an adversary outright or just somebody looking to stir something up and then make some sort of hay out of it for themselves.

I would have sworn someone at Anthony Weiner's level would have been keenly aware of this risk you take by standing out and sticking your neck out, and becoming a lightning rod. And I am freakin' FLABBERGASTED that he was so reckless. If he was still naive enough not even to consider that this kind of thing could happen if he does things like sending photos of himself over the internet, then SHAME on him! Ignorance of the consequences is no excuse if you're a US Congressman aspiring to be the next mayor of New York City and is a prominent figure in the media, and you've been around the block once or twice by now. And especially if you've made your reputation by sticking your neck out. How could you NOT be aware of what kind of vulnerabilities you expose yourself to (pardon the pun). And if he knew what kind of firestorm he was inviting by his behavior if evidence of his behavior ever got out, and he still went ahead and kept doing it, then he's a reckless ASSHOLE.
