We're blaming Republicans for the downtick, right?
Edited on Sun Jun-05-11 09:25 PM by gulliver
I haven't been on DU in a while, but I do go to the usual liberal haunts. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Surely someone is blaming the Republicans for the downtick, right?

I mean, look at the chain of evidence. The Bush monkeys got their hairy, bumbling fingers on the House and started doing their magic Dance of Depression again. Et voila! Downtick.

Surely, someone is calling them on it, right? Surely someone is saying "Don't print my name, but you know, some of us Democrats think that all this Republican fiddling with the buttons on the Federal budget machine might sort of cause a lot of business uncertainty. Threatening to let the country go into default even, something that's never been tried. And, as our Republican friends keep reminding us, business uncertainty is a bad, bad thing. So, a lot of Dems are kind of wondering why the Republicans are so willing to cause so much business uncertainty. Is it coincidental that we get a downtick just as we see all of this fiddling and economic chicken playing by the party of George W. Bush?"

Just sayin'.

1. I prefer to blame conservatives
That covers all the GOP and those Democrats that side with them on fiscal matters.

2. You'll find that there are some Democrats here on DU who will blame other Dems and especially Obama
for this country's economic woes, sadly. They don't point out that Democrats have put forth a number of jobs bills in the House, only to be filibustered in the Senate.

And yes, there are some Corporate Democrats who joined in with Republicans to stall progress, convinced that they can't win election by doing the right thing!

In the meantime, WELCOME to DU!!!

3. Republicans and our Deficit Hawks who never approved the
amount of stimulus requested.

Then when second round of stimulus was suggested
by Bernanke, and Geithner, same culprits. Conservative
Republicans and Conservative Dem Deficit Hawks.

Blame Conservative Economic Fundamentalism. It is
a false religion which leads people astray IMO.

6. Nope. Dems have allowed most of it to be laid on their own shoulders.

And soon I fear that the Dems will allow the GOP to blame Dems for trashing Medicare too.

The Repubs are threatening to stop the debt ceiling from being raised unless the Dems agree to cut Medicare.

Dems are true suckers when they are given ultimatums.
They usually give in and the GOP runs away with the prize which could be the next presidency if the Dems lose the game of chicken again.
