Welcome to global climate change morAns.
Edited on Wed May-25-11 05:34 PM by MoonRiver
We, the rational minority, tried to tell you Neanderthals that it was coming, and it would look like it does right now: stronger, more intense storms, including hurricanes and tornadoes, massive flooding, blizzards, destruction of habitats for animals and humans. But noooooo, you just knew it was all a left wing conspiracy.

So, you bottom feeders, I hope you will learn to love a little Level 5 tornado with your morning joe. Maybe you can become dare devil storm chasers and make a name for your sorry selves. Better than the basement, eh.

Will you wake up soon enough to stop the horror about to descend full time on this planet? I doubt it. It is probably already too late. :(

1. It's an insanity
Instead of just accepting the science for what it is and doing something about it... they... they just fucking decide the science is not real and instead it's all a sign their fairy tale in the sky is unhappy. They really are fucking crazy.

So why should they bother, they figure.

because they always claim that an extreme blizzard is proof that climate change isn't real.

9. It's not a misnomer, it just refers to cause rather than effect.
The cause of the extreme weather is the ocean warming due to the effect of pollution. The effect is the extreme weather, which can include blizzards. Right-wingers have never had a very solid grasp of cause and effect, though.

7. today at work one of the nut cases was telling me about his vacation
this week previous in Ohio. Blah, blah, blah, blah, until he began telling me about the storm in his rear view mirror
when he passed into Georgia. Said the rain was hellish and visibility was nil. I just had to bring up the tornados in
Missouri and give a rundown of my thoughts. All of a sudden, he remembered that I'm the total liberal that believes shit
like global warming, climate change, and that carbon in the atmosphere throws the balance out of whack. Then he walked away.

Thankfully, todays St. Pete Times had an op ed about the very thing I was stating, the droughts, the floods, the wildfires in
Texas, the crop failures in Russia, the mega floods in Pakistan, the rain forest drought, the record snow levels in the U.S. of A.

I just had to cut it out and give it to him. Hopefully he reads it. But I left him with the thought, "If we don't take care of
this business now, our grandkids are gonna hate us".

He had gone to Ohio to see his grandsons graduation.

27. And Ohio has had the wettest April since records have been kept.
Looks like May isn't that far behind.

Seems like the warmer Gulf of Mexico will be pumping more water into the atmosphere and it's falling here.

More snow in winter coming up the Mississippi river valley for the same reason.

14. Why are they so willing to suspend facts and probability and believe in
loony predictions of the end of the world. They will go to the death to defend the very wealthy from paying according to their profitability. They insist that wealthy need not share the cost of maintenance for using our infrastructure and the security of our still stable country. They take the ravings of Beck and Limbaugh to heart, while they disgust the rest of us. They are so forgetful that they don't remember on whose watch 9-11 happened and how we were lied and frightened into obliterating Iraq.

Is it a mental deficiency that makes them buy lies and cast off what they see happening in front of them? They are now being sold the bill of goods that suspending Social Security will help the economy.
Logic could tell them the unworthiness of this, but they don't seem to call on history or reason to find solutions.

Any thought at all about global weather change would lead a thinking person to lean in the direction of cleaning our environment for our own comfort and survivability.Keeping a balanced unpolluted earth just so happens to reduce the causes of global warming. Duh. Who could or would fight against a healthy planet?

That's so true, how you said it.

It reminds me of those youtube videos that man made, weighing the results of action or inaction. It's simple- whether the scientists are right or not, we need to change. Everyone stop arguing, pause that BS for a decade and just clean up. Fast.

19. There's so much more.
The ice caps are melting at unprecedented rates. Animals in those regions are losing their habitats. If this was happening normally, the animals would have time to evolve and change. That is not the case at this point in time. Global climate change is a horrifying reality.

Edited on Wed May-25-11 07:12 PM by stuntcat
truly I wish you to be right. Truly.

But my heart is with all the animals that humans are wiping out. So for me the non-scientists' old Is-The-Weather-Changing-Or-Not? argument seems sillier every year compared to how bad we're raping the planet. I hope you're right about this part of it, seriously, I wish.

(also the headline that goes with that graph says "warmer temps mean fewer tornadoes" so does posting it mean you agree there are warmer temps?)

44. Pointing to individual storms is just silly
As silly as the idiots who see a blizzard and say "Hey Al Gore, how 'bout that global warming!".

There are better arguments to be made on climate change, the weather is essentially anecdotal because it's the easiest thing for laymen to point to.

38. Because the boobs who say snowstorms = no global warming
don't understand that a warmer Earth sends more moisture upward. That moisture can come down in any form of precipitation — snow, rain, tornadoes, hurricanes. How all that moisture comes down doesn't matter. How it gets into the atmosphere does matter.
