Obama's car gets stuck on speed bump in Ireland
Been there before and I know those roads can't really accommodate that big ass car. It's still funny though.

7. With all the technology and innovation into that car and it gets "stuck on a speed bump"
I think the tax payer should be more upset than the secret service.

12. Agreed - the front wheels lose their clearance suddenly
Another angle here, if BBC video is visible in the States: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13507338

People boo when they park a bus in front to hide what's going on. "The Beast" had to be left there.

24. BBC video is often not visible outside the UK
Edited on Mon May-23-11 11:06 AM by muriel_volestrangler
and there's no easy way to tell, from inside, if it is or not. News clips like that are more likely to be available, I guess. See eg http://faq.external.bbc.co.uk/questions/bbc_online/video

Or:

Please be aware that our live embedded video streams, such as the BBC News Channel, are also available in the UK only.

If you are viewing the site from outside the UK, you will be unable to access our live video streams and rights-restricted content and should see a message stating that this media is not available in your territory.

26. Ah, weird, what in the World would be the justification for that?
Only one I can think of is to save on bandwidth requirements?

28. For the live news stream, yes, I guess bandwidth
The cost to the BBC is paid for by British licence payers, so I suppose someone may have said 'we shouldn't spend more money just to give this to non-licence payers'. For other clips it's copyright and repeat fee concerns, I think (which wouldn't normally apply to news, apart from sports, I suppose).

25. There is no current agreement
for our UK BBC home site to be streamed to the US - you can only watch/read stuff which has been loaded onto their World News. You also cannot access www.bbc.co.uk/news to get our home site. Trust me on that - I've tried from the US and what you get is definately not our home site.

In the same way we can't, or at least couldn't, access the Rhapsody Music site from the UK and there are some YouTube videos we cannot access as well.

17. It was a security measure
If you look closely you'll see the road height changes. A security measure kicked in and bottomed out the car.

29. The air ride or hydraulics failed for some reason: the tire doesn't drop, the front end does
The tire doesn't do any quick bottoming out, the front end of the car does.

Those cars weigh a LOT more than a stock caddy. They use special suspensions and this one apparently failed. I have an older lincoln that came from the factory with air springs, it has NO normal spiral wound metal springs in the front suspension whatsoever. About 2 years ago, one of the front air ride struts blew out with the same extra dramatic fashion as President Obama's car did in the video. Front end just dropped to the ground with a LARGE bang sound.

it is not a speed bump - but definitely a "better slow down" incline.

9. That's not a "speed bump", it's where an up ramp turns into a slightly down ramp.
Bad driveway design, lol.
