I initially wondered how "the media" could have found out about AS's hidden child after all these years.

It was the divorce petition with regard to his housekeeper and her husband. Anything put on the divorce complaint is verified as true and subject to perjury. No children born of the marriage. Her husband may have believed it was his child until the divorce. If he always knew, he went along with the charade of having his name on the birth certificate and didn't petition to have it removed. The same husband was not about to be legally saddled with child support payments and financing a potential college education if it wasn't his child.
