Hoyer raising money for Mo. US Rep. Carnahan
Edited on Wed May-18-11 11:53 AM by The Northerner
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan will be getting some fundraising help from one of the top Democrats in the U.S. House. But Carnahan isn't saying exactly what he might run for.

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, of Maryland, was scheduled to be in St. Louis on Wednesday for a Carnahan fundraiser. The two also planned to meet with students at Forest Park Community College.

Carnahan's current St. Louis area congressional district is being eliminated under a redistricting plan enacted by the Missouri Legislature. But Carnahan is considering running next year for a suburban St. Louis congressional seat currently held by Republican Todd Akin or for a statewide office. Akin announced on Tuesday that he is running Senate.

A spokeswoman says Carnahan is raising money so he will be well-positioned for whatever decision he makes.

I just can't wait to see the reaction on Akin's face when he loses to McCaskill and Carnahan wins his former House seat, which Carnahan will likely run for.

Yet another House seat pickup for the Dems in 2012! :bounce:
