Buy some cheap printable postcards, and print on them the message:

"As the world is scheduled to end on May 21, please note that I will not be (check one) a: returning the item I borrowed; b: sending my bill payment; c: sending in my donation; or d: mailing your birthday card/present/whatever until May 22.

I'm sure you understand.
