NPR jumped the shark
Probably a long time ago.

WNYC here in New York has the documented liar not-so-Breitbart on to spew his lies. Mild challenges, but of course the liar is just lying more to cover his previous lies. Which are allowed to pass unchallenged. The Takeaway show this AM had one segment after another on the basic theme of "Obama was wrong to kill OBL". (on that one I have mixed feelings, but think they killed him because trial discovery would've revealed way too much about TPTB) The Takeaway usually sounds like ABC, but this morning it managed to sound like Fox "news".

I listen to WBAI (Pacifica) to get news now. Let NPR beg their billionaire buddies for money.

1. That's too bad - I was going to go back to them because I'm not too
interested in the Stephanie Miller show anymore. I guess it's back to the ol ipod.

2. It's really pathetic that Breitbart is given any kind of respectable forum
in the media to perpetrate his vile spew.

How often does Michael Moore get to speak on anything on NPR, or just about any other show on TV or radio aside from Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell?

3. You're blaming NPR for a NYC local talk show?

4. Well...
Your point is correct. But I don't listen to the other NPR stations (nor to WNYC much anymore; my wife tuned the radio to it because of the weekend show Garrison Keilor)

What are the reactions of DU members to other NPR stations? Are more of them starting to sound like the MSM, or is this a local WNYC phenomenon?

The Takeaway is funded by Gates, so you know it is about as conservative as it gets.

I remind those who think Bill Gates is a Liberal because of his charity that the Koch Brothers give lots of money away as well. Done mainly for the tax breaks of course, but it allows them to think they're not just run-of-the-mill Nazis.

16. Ok. It's still a local talk show.
I really don't understand the quest by so many DUers to have NPR emulate Fox.

5. NPR must demonstrate that they do not have a liberal agenda to keep getting government money.
Edited on Wed May-11-11 11:13 AM by geckosfeet
IMO 'The Takeway' is as conservative as it gets these days. NPR is now bought and paid for by the conservative agenda.

The fact that many 'liberals and progressives' still do not realize this, and listen and donate to this drek religiously, allows the stealth MSM indoctrination of these conservative shows and ideas.

Of course they sound reasonable and fair, and occasionally air a lefty piece - especially during fund drives.

They keep you hanging on and waiting for your next 'progressive' crumb.

10. The slide
The slide into being "just another MSM corporate outlet" that *some* NPR stations embrace these days really got rolling with the idiot Kenneth Tomlinson, whom ex-president cheney's assistant shrub appointed to chair the Corporation For Public Broadcasting Board. There have been more and more repigs appointed to leadership roles inside NPR, like Patricia Harrison.

13. NPR folded its objectivity news tent during
the second Chimp admin when he put some Brownie-style crony in charge. Consistently right-leaning ever since. For chrissakes they had David Horowitz on to talk about Howard Zinn when Zinn passed. :eyes:

Thankfully for us up here in da nort' country Minnesota Public Radio is still excellent.
