2. Coo! I'll have to check that out.
I have a thing for the old Sousa Band, and I hope they have some recordings.

3. Thanks for this!
Know what's sad? I went straight to the link so I'd get it bookmarked, and what do I see but a "Warning"!!!
"...might contain offensive language"
Cripes. Sometimes political correctness just makes me want to use foul language.

4. Check out 1924 Rhapsody In Blue with George Gershwin at the piano.
with the Paul Whiteman orchestra.

It's a Rhapsody In Blue like you've never heard before.

(note: Part 1 and Part 2 are reversed. Start with Part 2)

7. Marvelous recording.
Whiteman had an ass-kicking orchestra. Gershwin does some showing off in the last piano section. And I think they orchestrated some sections that I am used to hearing on the piano.

I "grew up on" Bernstein/NY Philharmonic version. Bernstein, seems to me, and more than other versions, wanted very much to play it like Gershwin.

A great find!

8. Check out the "rights" tab.

The particular recording to which this is associated was recorded 104 years ago.

Copyrights, as currently enforced, are a scam.

11. Use something like Audacity or Wavosaur to record the music as it plays on your computer..
You can then save the file as an MP3 and upload it to your iPod..

Both of those are free and work well, there are lots of other sound recording apps out there as well that could be used.

15. And Audacity should let you get rid of some of the hissing, too.

13. Technically, yes. Legally, no.
Sony owns the rights to this 100 year old music in the library of congress. Including, for instance, the recordings of the speeches of Teddy Roosevelt.
