CLEVELAND - Northeast Ohio consumers are feeling the pinch in the pocketbook, high gasoline prices are causing them to make tough budgetary choices.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and 5 On Your Side responded to complaints from residents who believe they are being gouged at the pumps. Sen. Brown wrote a letter to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and called for its chairman to enact tighter restrictions on oil speculators, who can artificially drive up fuel prices by buying and selling oil futues.
Sen. Brown responded further on Monday, and continued his effort to curb rising fuel prices by announcing his support for two pieces of legislation he believes will help families and local businesses.
Sen. Brown will introduce "The Close Big Oil Loopholes Act," a measure he believes will end more than $4 billion in tax deductions given to the five biggest oil companies each year.More:
