U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announces additional legislation in an effort to blunt high gas prices
CLEVELAND - Northeast Ohio consumers are feeling the pinch in the pocketbook, high gasoline prices are causing them to make tough budgetary choices.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and 5 On Your Side responded to complaints from residents who believe they are being gouged at the pumps. Sen. Brown wrote a letter to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and called for its chairman to enact tighter restrictions on oil speculators, who can artificially drive up fuel prices by buying and selling oil futues.

Sen. Brown responded further on Monday, and continued his effort to curb rising fuel prices by announcing his support for two pieces of legislation he believes will help families and local businesses.

Sen. Brown will introduce "The Close Big Oil Loopholes Act," a measure he believes will end more than $4 billion in tax deductions given to the five biggest oil companies each year.

1. Sounds like a plan. Good time to make Republicans vote for more free candy for oil companies, too.

2. Yep,
It won't get republican support, but it will put them on the spot so they have to start explaining to the people back home "WHY" they are helping big oil companies keep billions in tax breaks and subsidies when they are making "record" profits, and the average american is paying $4 or more for gas! Get them on record and use their own words in TV ads voting "against" those who voted them into office!

4. Yeah!!! That's MY Senator!!!
It's stuff like this that makes him my favorite Senator. The fact that he represents my State and is from my hometown is just icing on the cake. And I've got my fingers crossed that he runs for President in 2016.
