Did you folks have your local conventions this weekend?

We had our Oahu County convention, and Maui had theirs. (Maui nui includes Molokai and Lanai, leaving only Hawaii County, aka the Big Island. I'm sure they met too.)

We had a couple of really young people volunteer for leadership, and they were voted in! Smart and capable young people...great news, though their opponents were good too, because our party is mostly grey heads. So great to have smart energetic and progressive young people willing to do the work, and great to see the party overwhelmingly welcome them and give them a chance.

Lots of work to do between now and the 2012 elections...this should be the year of lots and lots of organizing training.

1. My wife is there now.

She is there for an affirmative action committee she is chairing and she is also vice president for the Alaska Democratic Labor Caucus.

Sounds like she is having a good time and doing well.
