Now a bunch of then-second graders are all over the news telling us what a hero GW Bush was for sitting motionless for seven minutes prior to using them as photo ops for another twenty minutes, as Americans were leaping from the top of two burning skyscrapers 1,300 miles away in NYC. Only, they're not telling it that way. You see, George gave them all a vision of how great America could be. Yuppers. Bush's inaction and underwear-soiling inspired a generation. That's the story...nothing much about Obama on the news this morning, though. No one asked MY kids, 13 and 15 at the time, how it shaped their lives...it would have been a much different story. They're both very proud of their president. The one who actually got Bin Laden, not the one who read a storybook to second graders.
Everyone reading this knows that if Bush had been the one to get OBL the coverage would be similar to that of the Royal Wedding; non-stop, with remotes from Bush's ranch, tv specials about his childhood, interviews with his codpiece, ticker tape parades down Wall Street. But for Obama...all but forgotten five days later as a parade of former Bush officials, assorted war criminals and second graders tell us how awesome the former bankrupting oily war-monger in chief is.
It's enough to make me wanna puke.
