Re: OBL's neighbor, the Pakistani West Point

Had any western high level dignitaries ever visited there in the five or six years OBL was said to have lived outside the gate? Probably no reason they should have known at the time but in light of current events it could be an embarrassing twist of fate.

1. I'm not sure. How many people at West Point know who lives
in the properties around the Academy? As for the barbed wire and high fences, that's not really that unusual in that part of the world. People who can afford to generally protect themselves in that way in that part of the world. Lots of people who want your stuff all around. Poor people.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the military academy people had no idea bin Laden was nearby. It's a school.

2. Nonsense!
Edited on Tue May-03-11 04:01 PM by Vinnie From Indy
The United States of America and Pakistan are completely different animals. In addition, the CIA, NSA, US Military and intelligence agencies around the world have allegedly been leaving no stone unturned trying to find OBL. Certainly the intelligence service of India would be closely monitoring Abbottabad. With Pakistan and Afghanistan so completely blanketed with the most sophisticated intelligence gathering devices and techniques, it is simply hard to believe that we are getting the whole story.

Have you been to Pakistan and surveyed Abattobads houses? How many in this relatively small city have 18', barbed wire topped walls?

3. Based on what apparently passes for a "mansion" in Pakistan...
...I don't have great faith that the "Pakistani West Point" is more capable than the local Boy Scount camp.
