Sometimes There is No Gray
and today is one of those days. The world is full of situations that can sliced and diced a thousand different ways, but there is no gray what our military did over the weekend was right. We went after Osama, he shot back, we killed him end of story. You don't want cheer the death that's perfectly fine. What no one can is fault us for we did in seeking justice for those 3,000 killed.

10. No. I don't understand real terrorism and show terrorism to make a judgment.
Am I closer to losing my house or further away? Am I closer to medical financial help or further away? Am I gonna get my social security or not? My medicare or not? What does it mean?

13. No. I don't care about OBL. I only care about how his death affects the average person. nt

4. How would the poster know that?
As far as I know, there are no magical prognosticators on DU. I'm afraid we're all waiting to see what will happen. None of us are making any of the decisions, nor do we have all the necessary information. Asking that question is not going to provide an answer, I'm afraid.

The only thing we know is that bin Laden was killed in that raid. The rest is in the future.

8. I know there's no answer. Because of that, there's no satisfaction in OBL's death.
Not that I care if he lived or died, but what difference does it make in the average American's life? Will we have to sacrifice more? (Another rhetorical question.)

6. No gray? Then when will we seek justice for the over 3,000 X 300 Iraqis killed?
Are we a nation that holds everyone to the same standard or not?

Apparently we are not.

Iraq has been sanitized of all wrong. Unprovoked invasion against a vastly weaker nation based on lies and carried out in cities like Fallujah with almost incomprehensible cruelty and destruction. An unnecessary and illegal invasion that cost millions of Iraqis their lives and limbs, bombed, shot at check points, tortured in the very same prison Saddam used for the very same purpose. Millions more internally and externally displaced.

When are we going to get the many war criminals responsible for Iraq? Or are we above the same measure we mete because our military can beat up everyone else's military?

The biggest military rules. Might is right?

There is far too much gray.

7. What about the waterboarding done to extract the name of OBL's courier?
Doesn't that make this whole thing just the tiniest bit gray. I'm glad we got him but I fear the price will be the indefinite extension of Gitmo.

11. We are a shortsighted people and about an inch deep.
All that matters is Obama succeeded where Bush failed.

As for your fear, it has already become true. My fear is the precedent will stick and we will follow that path into a new dark age.
