1. Can't wait to see it!
I love Colin Firth and fell in love with him as Mr. Darcy. I do love me a good royalty flick!

Happy New Year!!!

2. I saw it the night before with Mrs. Duckburp
She is a speech therapist by degree and vocation. She provided me with a lot of technical background and terminolgy. Hey, can we deduct the cost of the tickets as a business expense?

12. Thanks. It goes back to our college days.
We were playing cards and listening to music. We decided we each needed nicknames. So, we tried to out do each other thinking up gross-sounding names. This one stuck after all these years.

5. Disappointed.
Somewhat s l o w-moving, wouldn't ya say?

Fell asleep and my companion let me sleep for about 45 minutes.( Anything to get me to shut-up?) So i missed a lot. (I might have been to tired to see any movie, but I didn't feel that way.)

From what I remember, the dynamic between George VI and the therapist was moving into the standard, trite cinematic treatment of doctor/patient.

Also..... was Colin Firth really believable as G.? I thought real life G. was extremely shy, neurotic, eccentric, chain-smoking, reed-thin and APPALLED at being thrust unexpectedly into the ... "limelight" would be putting it mildly.

Firth's not the type.

Too bad. I wanted to like it.

7. Respectfully disagree...
Slow? OK, it wasn't Bad Boys II...

Trite? As a clinician, that's how difficult people are managed...you do it your way on your turf. If you let the patient do it his/her way, the therapy of any type usually does not work. And quite honestly, I've had the exact same conversations with plenty of patients over the years. What do most people talk about? Pretty 'trite' stuff....

Perhaps they should have found an actor who doesn't like being on stage...that's a trick - but they had to 'settle' for Firth.

Perhaps if you hadn't lost 45 minutes of the film, it might have been more 'complete'.

but...to each his/her own...the film's only been nominated for about 100 awards...but what do I know?

6. Go and I like it but not as good as Black Swan
Black Swan just really worked for me. Maybe I have a crush on Natellie Portman but wow!

15. Overcoming adversity is an evergreen topic, I agree. However, the way it was
carried out I felt was superb. Firth was magnificent as was Geoffrey Rush. A tremendously well made movie, top notch acting and the settings were flat out gorgeous!
