Why has this thread not been locked or moved?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=247x32554

Pseudoscientific garbage is posted in the skeptics group and rather than it being moved or locked (being inappropriate to the group), responses calling it the bullshit it is are deleted and the thread remains after numerous alerts.

Are the mods confused about what to do with pseudoscientific garbage?

1. The confusion exists in that group's statement of purpose
In particular, this part:

Non-skeptics are invited to participate, provided that they do so in a respectful, non-disruptive manner.

Does it violate the group's statement of purpose for a non-skeptic to post non-skeptical stuff in that forum, provided they are not deliberately disrupting the group? I don't know, and neither do the moderators.

So, the moderators just do the best they can and remove personal attacks. Which is why the personal attacks of skeptics have been getting deleted.

Perhaps you should re-write the statement of purpose to make it more clear. Or you can just wait until DU3, where members will have much more control over what happens in the groups.

2. Are you giving me authority to remake the Skeptics forum as I see fit?

3. Sure.
Go to the skeptics group, start a thread to discuss the statement of purpose. If you and the other regulars in the skeptics group decide to change the statement of purpose, just give me the new verbiage and I'll update it.
