Historic day for gay rights, but why is this flamebait call-out allowed?

Particularly from a DUer with a very long and infamous history of making fun of gay people and their struggle for rights. This thread was started almost twelve hours ago and is still up and running, despite numerous alerts. One post in it was deleted so the mods have seen it. What purpose does this thread serve other than flamebait and an effort to make gay people feel bad on a historic day? It's really mean-spirited and I'm disappointed that it's allowed. This is the kind of thing that leads to gay posters and their allies getting so angry.

Edit: Now there's a post in the thread calling gay people "ratfuckers." Nice.

I'm trying to help. I'm trying to get DU Admins to see that this kind of thread is extremely upsetting to a minority group that is in an all-out struggle for equal rights - a struggle that we often seem to be losing. It's not enough to have written rules about abusing a minority on DU when this kind of thing is allowed.
