Question
Isn't it a shame that http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=439&topic_id=958726#958798">this post goes six hours AFTER being alerted without being dealt with, yet in http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=439&topic_id=953864">another thread a DUer PUBLICLY orders--in order to take revenge on the OP--the Mods to lock a thread and it only takes two hours for that thread to be locked. Six hours against two hours! Six hours for a post that breaks the rules; two hours for a thread that does not!

I'm having a hard time understanding how this can be. We've been told that DU3 will be different because of the software. But the problems in those two threads aren't software related. I'm losing faith in this fix.

In a 24 hour period, DU has publicly shown that bigotry is allowed for all to see, but any effort to fight it is squelched. Isn't that a shame? Shouldn't that be dealt with RIGHT NOW with people, not software? Are we supposed to see these actions and not be upset?

1. I think I'll need some more explanation here.
Is it bigoted to call Bradley Manning a traitor?

2. Thank you for proving my point.
Where you see "Fucking traitor," another person is going to see "Fag traitor." In the locked thread, one person took "there has been bigotry the last few days" and painted it as calling a particular DUer a bigot, when that wasn't the case. That particular person was alerted several times--for actual bigotry--but nothing was ever done, except to punish the person the alerted individual was attacking. It's the people, not the code, that's the problem.
