Napolitano should not quit or accept any blame, because her position has been dumbed down and
replaced with a czar. She, like most of the cabinet are just figureheads.

She gave up a position of Gov. for what, a ceremonial position. Fire the real holder of the position, "czar of airport security".

4. Thank you! That's why I don't fault her for saying the system worked.
It did work, from our end. She was talking specifically about what transpired on the plane to the US.

it had access to the fact that the UK denied him one on the grounds he lied on his UK visa application. This is an egreious error given the father told the embassy his son was a risk.

9. The UK had not shared that information with the US, from what I understand.
And which embassy had the father warned about him?

10. The UK has publicly stated that US had total acces to that info.
And as reported in The Guardian.

After Mutallab, a prominent banker and former cabinet minister, alerted the US embassy in Abuja about concerns over his son's radical views, Abdulmutallab's file was marked for attention should he apply for another visa.

But consular officials did not revoke the two-year multiple entry visa issued at the US embassy in London in 2008.

Napolitano acknowledged that the handling of the visa will be of particular concern.

11. When Richard Reid tried to set his shoe on fire
the walking cadivar - can't remember his name - didn't resign. Why are the republicans calling for Napolitano to resign. I know some one said she was gay. I think they have been hinting at this for a while.

12. When I listened to her original statement I understood it as
everything worked from the point of the incident on the plane - the reaction of the plane crew, the passengers and US aviation, NOT from the point he was allowed to get on the plane. And he didn't get on the plane in the US so it is apparant to me that because America is so damn dumbed down that no one in the adminsitration can say an intelligent statement and think that all will understand. They will have to use the KISS method.....Keep It Simple Stupid.... at least for the next 3 years......

If she can't do better than that, she should quit.
