Don't forget that the Senate passed the Feinstein amendment which amended that section's language 'before' the Senate passed the DoDA Act, also the bill must go to The House and the language may be changed further over there before it is sent to The President's desk.

Is the President, as Commander in Chief in the War On Terror, so all-powerful that he could indefinitely detain himself, the President as a mere elected "authority" and only a civilian?

4. This is very scary

Basically rewriting the 4th amendment, quietly with no debate.
What is scary is that only 7 senators voted against it.

I watched this segment on the Daily Show last night in horror. Jon was particularly passionate about this story. You could tell he was forcing the funny because this story is far from funny.

Especially when he said that Obama threatened to veto the bill, not because of the unprecedented executive powers to imprison any American for any reason indefinitely without charge, but because it didn't have ENOUGH executive powers for him.

Its official: The terrorists have won!

5. This is no joke. This is corporate fascism we are seeing now.

Until now, we have had the illusion of being free, but OWS is challenging the very foundations of their global power system. They are challenging the financial system, the elections system, the empire...everything.

These oligarchs will not cede power willingly. When the mask falls, they are forced to a deadly serious response.

This is about nothing less than our freedom and the future of all of us.

7. The Feinstein amendment did not pass as far as I can determine.

I've seen it said on DU a couple of times that the Feinstein amendment passed. As far as I can see that's not correct - the Feinstein amendment did not pass.

Here is a blog entry on 12/1 saying it failed:

And here is the list of amendments for the Senate bill, showing that Senate Amendment 1126 (which I believe is the one we're referring to) failed:

So can you point me to something saying that it passed? I would like to know either way whether it passed or it didn't.
