Herman Cain may sue Politico for inconvenient reporting
Daily Kos: Herman Cain may sue Politico for inconvenient reporting

Reuters: Republican sexual harassment furor boosts Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The longer the Republican presidential hopefuls battle over sexual harassment claims against Herman Cain, the better things look for President Barack Obama as he mounts his campaign for re-election.

Cain has been accused by at least three women of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s, claims that have been front and center in the Republican nomination race since the news web site Politico reported them on Sunday.

The rare instance of infighting in a party known for its unity comes just as Obama, a Democrat, is gaining some traction in opinion polls and the U.S. economy is showing signs of improvement.

"Obviously Team Obama wants the Republican field as large as possible for as long as possible," Republican strategist Ford O'Connell said. "The more they duke it out, the more ammo Team Obama has going into the general election."

<...>

Give the Koch-Cain financial scandal a little time to hit the mainstream.

20. And Remember Loser Pays
That's what Cain and Gingrich advocate to stop frivilous law suits.

3. Cain
maybe a greedy Koch plant, that doesn't mean the light is fully on upstairs (see his opinion of nuclear power China).

13. It would be brutal.
There would be lots of nice, juicy NEW stuff come out on Herman The Serial Sexual Harasser; people assume that there are only three women involved, hell, there might be thirty-three, all waiting for a good reason to call Politico's attorneys.

19. Good point
a lot of embarrassing shit would come out during the discovery phase, which makes it virtually impossible that any suit will be filed.
That's why there are settlements in the first place, to hide all that crap.

17. Under our system of judicial process,

a lawsuit on Politico will drain dollars from their coffers. Cain will lose the suit, but loser is not required to pay defendant's legal costs. I understand in some countries such as UK, the plaintiff pays defendant's legal cost in case of a loss.

18. Race to the bottom
I still haven't seen any reports that indicate the race of Koch-backed Cain's sexual harassment victims. While normally that wouldn't and shouldn't matter, in this case Herman would be toast within one day if it comes out any of the victims are white. Southern man don't like black men messin' with their white women.
