Herman Cain contradicts former National Restaurant Association HR chief on investigation
By JONATHAN MARTIN | 10/31/11 3:08 PM EDT Updated: 10/31/11 3:14 PM EDT

Herman Cain said in his speech today that the National Restaurant Association’s general counsel and the human resources department conducted an investigation into allegations about his conduct in the late-90s.

But the head of the association’s human resources department at the time said in an interview with POLITICO last week that she was unfamiliar with any complaints from female employees about Cain.

But Cain said flatly in his National Press Club speech today that Ose’s department today actually conducted the probe into his conduct.

“I recused myself and allowed my general counsel and my human resource officer to deal with the situation and it was concluded after a thorough investigation that it had no basis,” the former association CEO said.

Reached at her home today following Cain’s speech, Ose was told of what the GOP presidential hopeful had said about her and was asked about the contradiction.

“He did not say that,” she insisted.

Read the direct quote from Cain, Ose responded: “You and I have talked and I have nothing to say.”

She then hung up.

2. Most payouts come with a clause
to not talk ever about the situation so Cain feels safe….

3. The way Cain responded does not compute.
Didn't he deny that there wasn't any charges? Now he admits there were?

He says there were charges and he was exonerated? But yet had to pay off?

4. He claims
he knows nothing about any settlement! He hopes it wasn't for very much, 'cause he didn't do anything wrong!

5. More smoke. There must be fire. Cain is playing this into a bigger story.
He could have cleared this up immediately by saying, "Yes I made some comments on two occasions that in retrospect I realize were inappropriate. I apologized to the persons involved and approved a financial settlement." Of course, - if he didn't apologize then he can't make this statement.....and of course he appears to be maintaining that he was "cleared" of any wrongdoing when the evidence revealed so far at least suggests otherwise. Mr. Cain has a problem which is not going to just go away, whether he realizes it or not. It may not be too late to put this to rest by coming completely clean and apologizing not only to the women involved but also for muddying things up with apparent half truths.

6. Reminds me of Sarah Palin announcing she was cleared of any wrongdoing in Troopergate
on the day she was found guilty of wrongdoing in Troopergate.

7. Herman cain
:) cain is just what the republicans deserve, the man in no way shape or form represents what a modern black man is or thinks like. This man has the mindset of an imbecile...amazing he was as successful as he has been...but then again not being proactive for civil rights or any other activity that required him to stand and be counted as a blackman in those times of turmoil speaks volumes about his character and where he stands. The man really beleives all blacks are "brainwashed" and ignorant because we don't run to the republicans ever-loving arms and get the warm welcome we so richly deserve....RIGHT!!!! The man is destroying himself very nicely all by himself..i beleive he did sexually harrass these women...he has an arrogant way about him that just is not likeable to me...what say you all?
