POLLS: Perry Holds Huge Lead Over Romney (Perry +15, Perry +19)
Perry Holds Huge Lead Over Romney

The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds Rick Perry has jumped to a strong lead among Republican primary voters nationally with 38%, followed by Mitt Romney at 23%, Rep. Ron Paul at 9% and Rep. Michele Bachmann at 8%.

The Politico/Battleground Poll finds Perry at 36%, followed by Romney at 17%, Bachmann at 10%, and Paul at 10%.

1. I know people WANT him to be Fred Thompson
but he isn't ...

Thompson was long removed from holding any office, and was not a governor. He also was not a guy who really liked to campaign AND for all of his acting likeability, he was not a very energetic guy to fire people up.

Perry has a very long tenure as governor of the second largest state, is a high energy campaigner and is willing to dish the red meat like Texas Roadhouse.

He is their guy.
