2. He will be the next President.....
and he will make sure that our lives are the poorer for it.

The stage has been set, and the Left stepped in it to help.

It will be interesting.....

9. Poor tinkerbell.

Edited on Wed Aug-24-11 11:19 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
As a Floridian I wanted to see the "Rubio Express" stopped before it left the station. He is what the right has been looking for. A glib, telegenic Latino.

11. Everything about modern politics is superficial.
Except the campaign donations.

We're plankton. We matter only to the extent that the capitalist food chain depends on us.

12. I Do Not Disagree
I am not suggesting he's ten feet tall. But his so called life story and Latino heritage will make him a player in national politics for years to come.

We had a chance to stop him, but unfortunately a lot did not vote pragmatically.

25. Maybe The Cake Was Baked
It reminds me of when George Bush* beat Ann Richards. You knew the office was a steppingstone. Actually Jeb was supposed to be president but Lawton Chiles denied or delayed that dream.

And, no way does President Obama carry Florida with Rubio at the bottom of the ticket. And unless the economy improves I don't see him winning it, with Rubio or sans Rubio.

21. I don't think they are awful......I just don't think that some can help themselves......
or for that matter, much of anyone else.
It is about their emotion, not about the issues, and it shows.
In fact, it is fair to say, many are In it to Lose it....
cause it is obvious, they ain't got shit else to do.

6. Rubio caught Nancy when she lost control of her cane and slipped
while walking into a room on his arm. He caught her as she was going down. She is very old and frail and looks like she could break in two...

22. Are you kidding me?
Good lord. I cringe whenever I see posts like this. You're really so pessimistic that you think this clown is going to be elected in a couple of years? A lot could change in that time span. Most people didn't even know who Barack Obama was in 2003. The top names then were Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and Rudy Giuliani. Obama was a blip on nobody's radar.

Rubio hasn't done anything of note and people know almost nothing about him. He could have plenty of flaws that make him unelectable to the general public.

23. Five years. Same position as Obama in 2003.
Most people don't know who he is. 'He's a blip on nobody's radar.'

I think a lot of Latino voters will vote for him just because he's Latino.

The night he was elected, I predicted he would be the running mate of the 2012 GOP nominee, lose and go on to win 2016.

Now I am leaning a little against him being VP nominee, but I stand by my prediction for 2016.

Yes, they're one big monolithic group. :eyes:

Odd how minority groups get clumped together that way on this site. As if they're too dumb to choose a candidate based on the issues and simply go with a guy with a somewhat similar ethnic background.

Honestly, your statement reeks of racism. It's not the full-throated bigotry of racial slurs or anything of that nature, but rather the "soft" racism of condescension that's much more prevalent in our society.

19. Would that mean that a Democrat who kept Ted Kennedy from falling
on one of his last trips to the Senate would be likely to win the Democratic nod in 2016? I would guess that if anything, Ted Kennedy was at least as loved by Democrats as Nancy Reagan (one step removed from Ronnie). Yet, I would think that the dumbest reason to pick a candidate.

(There was, in fact, one of the current Senators who did this on the video showing Teddy and Vicki coming to the Senate - in fact, the Democrat's response was quicker, stronger and smoother than Rubio's where Mrs Reagan actually nearly hit the ground. Both knew they were accompanying someone who could have problems.)

Rubio may well be a 2016 candidate, but it won't be for his action here. What he did was really what anyone who Nancy Reagan would have been walking with would have done.

But if people see Jesus' face in a piece of toast some people will see Rubio saving Nancy Reagan from a fall as a sign.
